Yeah, they took it that day, but not in the end. Outnumbered at almost 50 to 1, the Texans made them pay a steep price for the Alamo. Six weeks later the Texans, still severely outnumbered, defeated the Mexican army for keeps. That's the courage and determination that forged Texas Heritage and we will never forget.

Thanks OldTex! You got me to thinking about Texas and I wound up here. It's an interesting site.

Amen to that, brother! And that may be the courage and determination we will need to stand down the current threat to our freedoms. Tyranny requires an unarmed populace.

It's really an amazing story. William Travis was only 26 years old when he drew that line in the sand. Knowing that crossing that line meant a certain death, all 186 men stepped across. It's hard to even imagine that degree of determination and sacrifice in the name of freedom.

How many of us would be willing to draw that line in the sand? Generally speaking, 26 year old males today are not cut from the same cloth as the Alamo heroes. I'm 48 and I would like to think I would be willing to cross the line if necessary.

The same grit was on hand on D-Day, and the many other battles mentioned. (But at least they had a chance!) It would be hard to find today, for sure. I would hope I had it, but I guess we never know until we're standing there.

26 year olds, sleepyone?

I beg to differ, friend, not to bait you but to give you hope. At 26 I was on my second tour, giving the best orders I could to 19 year olds hunting an elusive enemy for the benefit of the oppressed... Now those kids are 26 and doing the same.
Americans have not changed, only the media coverage of us.

I've been telling my family for years that we have had it far too easy for far too long, which has resulted in a citizenry that has become far too complacent. There are a lot of things happening in this country economically and socially that will probably bring an abrupt end to that complacency in the next few years.
