I just got a 44 mag super blackhawk hunter that I am going to use for hunting here in TX. Of these 2 optics, which is better suited? It'll be used on deer/hogs/javelina for the most part.

thanks

I have a Fastfire II and an Ultra Dot LT. Neither are on heavy recoiling guns, but both have held up just fine and are easy to use. The dots are very similar. The Ultra Dot LT has a slightly bigger lens/field of view.

I vote aimpoint r1 as it is perfect on my s&w629pc. Not sure if that is closer to ff2 or ultra but I do like the small size so leaning towards ff2.

The aimpoint is a little out of my budget right now, that's why I'm focusing on these two. I am open to other suggestions, though.

My big concern is whether the fastfire is up to the recoil of a steady diet of 44 mag hunting ammo.

I've read wear the FF is being used on 1911, slide mount. And seam to be holding up during recoil. I have not used one so I can not comment on it's reliability. I know the Ultradot has a lifetime warranty not sure what the FF has.

I used an AimPoint red dot and a Millet red dot on my pistols. I throw that info out even though the pistols were T/C Encores, chambered in .260 Rem, .270 Win, .444 Marlin and .45-70 Gov't. If those sights held up to that recoil, and held its zero, I'd expect as good on a .44 Mag. I used that set-up for hunting wild boar in the woods. More an a couple piggies went to market thanks to an AimPoint red dot and a Millet red dot.

I've got a FF3 mounted on my Super Blackhawk Hunter and I LOVE it. I haven't used an Ultradot but I sure don't see a reason having used the FF.

I've put about 250 rounds through mine (mild to wild) and no problems with zero or anything...

I have an UltraDot Match dot (30mm tube) on my SBH Bisley Hunter.

I can't comment on the FF but I do really like the UltraDot tube sights. Mine has held up to probably close to 1000 of full tilt 300gr slugs over a case full of H110. I know a bunch of other guys who use them on 475 Linebaughs and other big boomers with very good results.
