I guess imitation is the best form of flattery.

Days after lawmakers sidelined a proposed assault weapons ban, Vice President Joe Biden and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Thursday offered a stern warning to Congress: there are still political consequences for opposing the measure.

Bloomberg urged members of the public to tell congressional opponents of the gun control measure that they will “support whoever runs against you, no matter who they are.”

..... insisted that public opinion has shifted on gun restrictions -- and that the political pressure from the gun lobby has been overstated.

We must redouble our efforts, we've done great so far on the national level to block the AWB and more than likely the mag caps. We need to STOP the "universal background check" and prevent registration which will lead to confiscation. Not to mention the fact you'll have to pay for two transfer fees to lend a buddy a hunting rifle for the weekend.

Let's not forget how much money Bloomberg has to spend, and his egomania about pushing his agenda in other states.

He is going to be a significant force to be reckoned with over the next decade.

Being a Democrat in Congress has got to be stressful right now. They can anger the voters or their party leaders. Either way is career ending. We may see a lot of them simply not vote on these bills.

Ha, that's rich. Well, I say let the congress critters listen to Biden and Bloomberg. It'll make our job easier to get them kicked out of congress. I feel that the house is fairly safe, so I am not biting my nails about an AWB. I guess what the average congress critter realizes is you vote against guns you stir up a lot of 2A single issue voters who will pursue you with a single-minded purpose. You vote no on it, and the pro-gun control crowd will simply shrug and go "well, we tried" and move along.

The guy is 71....maybe he won't live a decade.

On the other hand, he could put all his money into an anti-gun trust that will act in perpetuity.:banghead:

I don't think Bloomberg is truly anti gun in the same way, say, as the Brady bunch.

Bloomberg is pro "getting as much power for himself" as possible; gun control is just a means to that end for him.

I don't think he'll care about gun control or anything else after he is dead.

You have no idea, he will take this fight til his bank account is empty or he dies. He will be like the Terminator with this issue. Do not think otherwise. He knows he will never win higher office than tyrant of NYC and this is his way to a legacy and if it's one thing rich folks love it's legacy

Biden and Bloomberg. We'll start calling them the BBs!

Bloomberg has shown to be a corrupt snake in the grass. I hope we may raise enough reptilian destroying support, to politically cut the heads off the snakes.

My personal assessment, which you may or may not agree with, is he is the most dangerous reptile in the Democratic Party (quite the oxymoron, lately). Threatening his own kind, using money to illegally conduct sting operations across the nation, buying votes and support.

This traitor to America had a brother he may associate with; Benedict Arnold.

I wonder if anyone has made, if nothing more, than a symbolic association?

Stand strong, we will weaken those who would destroy our Constitution and Rights, then destroy them politically, as they are unfit for office.

I would like nothing better, than to see Bloomberg spend his way to bankruptcy, through illegal means, and charged by our Judicial system (if they haven't been taking some of his hush money), and wind-up as a beggar on the streets, far removed from his ivory tower, Messiah mentality.

Perhaps a role on the, "Where Are They Now"? show, would follow. Unfortunately, money-men will never wind-up destitute.

There, I'm spewing vitriol myself. Not HighRoad, but I thought it needed said. He has the right to do as he pleases. I hope the consequences catch-up sooner, not later.

Exactly. Bloomberg the man is vulnerable. He's notorious for his treatment of women among other things, and of course he's gotten universal derision for his attack on big gulps. The far left hate him for his abuse of protestors over the past decade, and his stop-and-frisk system has been used to openly harass anyone who doesn't look right in the opinion of NYPD. Some black guys have been frisked hundreds of times, with nary a charge to show for it. He's extremely rich, but he's also an extreme jerk and something of a Jr. Birdman fascist.

A Bloomberg Trust, OTOH, suffers none of these shortcomings. Heck the thing could have enough money to pay $2,000 for every gun at a buy back, or purchase up thousands of dealerships. So the longer he is personally active and shooting his mouth off, the better.

I'm not sure how buying a dealership out would do anything but make him feel better, for a few minutes at that. Take J&G Sales in AZ for example; suppose a slick NY lawyer shows up in a suit with a lot of money and wants to buy the store. They'd just ask for 10 - 20% more than the place is worth, move down the street, change their address on their license with the ATF, and re-open under a different name. They could pocket the extra $ they charged Bloomberg, use it to expand, whatever.

How old is Blooomstien anyway, he and Fienberg, shouldn't be around too much longer. I can't help misspelling their name as they are interchangeable anyway.
Maybe they were soul mates form another galaxy far far away. I am sure the Israelis have no use for this kind of person representing their fighting spirit. it's only the American version of the Jewish people who act like this. Israelis know what guns are for and are more supportive of their use that most others including some Americans. The Americanized versions of NY and CA wealthy Jewish politicians are laughed at over there.
Bloomberg would not last 5 minutes in Israel, nor would Feinstein. They are hypocritical two faced self serving dictatorial big mouths. They want to put their 2 cents in where it does not belong nor needed, from what we should eat and drink to how we should defend ourselves, what manner of demigod did these people descend from. And we really need to get this type of person out of a position of being able to mandate their will upon anyone.
They have surpassed stupid and are on their way to a whole new set of standards that have not even been named yet.
Bloomberg is one of the 20 richest men in the world, how can he relate to the average Joe. Feinstein is also very rich and old, isn't it time for them to step aside?

And of course they're are no political consequences for those supporting the measure... :uhoh:

Perhaps B&B should look back at what happened after the election of 1994... ;)

We need to remind our legislators that we have a long memory. In two years, the antis will have moved on to some other way to protect the children. We will never forget those who betray us.

Where are the Koch brothers when we need them?

An other point to consider: Bloomberg is playing a very dangerous game threatening others in his party. If he oversteps his bounds, the ones in the house and senate can come down on him, hard. What is a billionaire to the law-makers who can, with a stroke of a pen, take everything he owns from him. I'm somewhat confident that the republican side would be none too sympathetic to Bloomberg either if his own party turns on him.

Oh I'm sure Bloomberg's lawyers would have that addressed in the fine print.

They've convinced themselves that that didn't really happen! Seriously. There are a bunch of articles repeating the mantra that 1994 wasn't really about guns and neither was 2000. We need to disabuse them of that notion next year.
