I was at my local Walmart today, and stopped by the sporting goods department to check ammo. They were of course all out, but I did talk to an employee for a minute. He said that they were no longer getting full shipments, and that as soon as they had ammo to distribute they were sending it out. Sometimes at different times than normally, just whenever they had, and whatever they had. He said the truck he got in the day before had 2 boxes if 9mm, and they got it in at some odd time, because that's what they had and they wanted to get it to the stores ASAP.

Not sure if it means anything, but it doesn't seem like we're gonna be able to just show up when we "know" the truck is going to be there.

Yeah, the ammo shipment is getting irregular in the days it shows up . This is now the norm . And expect it to get worse as the Antis are ramping up more .

Was at my local Gander mountain last Thursday(that's when they get their shipments) and in their shipment that day they received 2 boxes of 9mm, not two cases, two boxes of 50. An no 22lr.

At two of our local gun stores, they've stated that ammo shipments are starting to come more regularly and last longer. They're still no where near what they were pre-panic, but it's starting to improve. I was able to pick up some 22LR for the first time in months. I don't scour the stores like some people, but I'm teaching the Rifle Shooting merit badge in May and I thought I might ought to stock up now. So far I'm up to a measly 1500 rounds. It'll probably be enough depending on how many scouts actually sign up.

Now, if I could find some Varget, H4350, H4895, and IMR-4064, I'd be a happy man.

Yeah Varget is impossible to find. I would like to have a few pounds of that too.

Morcey, I am really low on .22's myself. However, if you do not think you will have enough ammo for your Scouts closer to the class time, let me know and I'll send you what I have.

Thanks Shawn! I've got until late May/early June to get enough collected. Only two kids have committed at this point and I will definitely have enough if that's the case. :) If I can't collect more, I'll definitely take you up on the offer.

Thanks,
Matt

Ask and ye shall receive! While trying to find a place for a haircut at lunch, I stopped in an LGS and they had Varget! I only bought 1 lb because I'm not into the hoarding thing and it should last me a month or so.

But I still didn't get a haircut.

Don't they only restock the store during the night?
The bulk of the stocking takes place on the overnight shift by the night crew....."But", ammo has to be secure, and the ammo is usually placed on what is called a "Pick cart" and it will be placed outside the management office till the sporting goods associate or manager with the ammo case keys is available to stock the shelves. This is not gospel, but it is usually the way it is handled. It can vary from store to store to some degree, but generally ammo is handled separately from general merchandise. Overnight the ammo case keys are with the management team.

Yeah, it's hit or miss here too. I don't make special trips anymore. I just make a point to go over to the gun counter whenever I'm in the store for something else.
I have been lucky and got 3 boxes of .22 and one box of 9mm in the past couple weeks.

That's what I thought, too. But they told me the second they get it in, it's going into the case right now.

My local Walmart us also 24/7, so I'm not sure it really matters. And I've been there at 2-5 am, there's still 60-75 people in there at that time.

This just started happening at the local Academy here. One of the employees said they are getting their regular shipments and people are lining up at the door as usual. Then they are getting random shipments during the day. They do not know what is coming or when anymore.

Yesterday morning they received Independence and Winchester 5.56 and some 7.62x54R. Then in the afternoon they received 100-round CCI Mini-Mags, Winchester 100-Round 9mm, American Eagle 50-round 9mm, Winchester .223 Varmint, CCI Shotshell .40, and some .308 too.

I was at a local FFL on Monday and watched a literal TON of ammo being received and shelved.
The shelves ARE full of ammo, EVEN the much sought after 9MM stuff.
I was told however that the ammo was destined for "in store" use and could not be sold.
The store DOES have range facilities and full auto rentals are available.

I went in a Walmart near me and was surprised to see 12 boxes of 45acp and 8 boxes of 40S&W. :what: This was Federal ammo.
Of course I was looking for 22. :(
