Since Toomey and Manchin both have NRA "A" Rating, but have decided to conspire with the NRA's foes to craft "compromise" legislation, should the NRA immediately and publically strip them of their "A" rating?

absolutely

Although I believe that it wouldn't change much, the senators knew they would be stripped of their rating when they decided to buckle.

Joe Manchin absolutely turns my stomach, he was a very respectable governor of my neighbor state, I remember seeing his campaign adds of him walkin around with a rifle talking about how pro 2A he was. Now look at him, a true example of an Obama puppet man.

Not only that; but they should make it clear that a vote for the Manchin-Toomey bill will count against politicians' future NRA grades.

Yes, plus they should "out" these turn coats in every issue of their magazine until the next time they are up for reelection and their ratings should be changed to "F". Manchin fooled many by shooting his gun and making promises to stand up to President Obama to get jobs back in the state. Jobs are still scarce and now he wants to mess with our 2nd amendment rights.

Just after the vote. Not before. They can play all the games they want, but it's votes that count. If they vote against the 2nd Amendment then we should do everything we can to defeat them.

The NRA ratings mean nothing unless we vote the bastards out. That's what gives the ratings teeth.

Not only should the NRA publicly strip them of their rating BUT the Republican Party should drop them from the party too!

To be fair though, the NRA rating and the GOA rating represent past performance; and as the traders are fond of pointing out "Past performance is not a guarantee if future performance."

In Toomey's case, he apparently thought he needed to become more moderate to win his next Senate election. Not sure what kind of golden parachute Manchin was offered to carry water for Obama. Either way, it is something worth keeping in mind when evaluating politicians.

"the Republican Party should drop them from the party too!"

Unfortunately the Republican party is infested with RINOs. The only way to get them out is for people to vote them out in the primaries. People really need to pay attention to the primaries and not wait until November to become involved.

I would love to see a full page ad in all their publications and paid for in others that showed ratings for politicians...every single issue until election day. I'm voting straight 2A from here until the day I die. I would throw a vote for a fifty foot brick wall at the border too, but that's another gripe. As far as day to day life goes, I can handle myself and my family fine, I just want the government to keep their nose out of my face.

The NRA has blinders on for most of their ratings. They turn their head when politicians vote against the Constitutional principles on laws other than those affecting the Second Amendment but then act surprised when the same folks stab them in the back. I sadly don't expect the NRA to do anything to the turncoats they have endorsed as it would go against the historical pattern.

i've been an NRA member for over 50 years. The way the NRA rates congress critters bugs the hades out of me.

The GOA ratings are much more accurate. GOA has Manchin at D and Toomey at A-. GOA rates McCain a D-.

Of course.

Why would that question even be asked?

We are at war to save our gun rights. Attack the enemy and turn coats in every (legal) way possible.

The NRA should not deviate from the current rating system or the integrity of the ratings will be in jeopardy. If the current system dictated a lower rating, so be it.

It should not preemptively and publically change ratings for actions that have not occured. It should however make it very clear to legislators how their votes will be reflected in future ratings, and what implications that may have for future NRA support.

For those that vote yes on more gun control, a downgrade and withdrawl of support is in order:

Politicians change, McCain, Gore, Carter, even Clinton all held fairly high rankings at one time but with what we know now they all flunk.

The moment they (politician) goes against the 2nd Amendment they should be outed publicly and loose any support Pro 2A organizations give them.

Too bad they aren't required to be uniformed. Then we could tear off their rank, strip off their buttons and break their sword. Just stripping them of their "A" rating just doesn't seem to be enough. Hopefully the voters will turn them out!

I just want the government to keep their nose out of my face.

Kind of a tossup, really. The dems want into your gun safe & the reps want into your bedroom.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that one side wants power & control over you any less than the other. Just a matter of what means more to you.
