New to me Smith but I think I overpaid

Yep, nice one. I would give $550 for that without a thought. That's exactly what I need to go with my Marlin rifle. If I had that I wouldn't have passed up the 2 100ct boxes of .357 Rem. at Wally World today...$54 a box.

I paid too much today for a Colt Official Police, but I had to have it. We'll each make it up on the next deal.

rswartsell,

You think he'd have overpaid on a Python for $550 ? You gotta be kidding, even with those grips it'd be worth $400 more!

bigtubby, you did good son, get it loaded and let us know how she shoots! Nice piece!

the price was where it was reasonable, besides, if it was worth it to you the price was right no matter what the tag.

788HAM, my point was that if he'd bought a similar Python, it would have been more like 2K and he would not have gotten that much more gun.

Good luck finding that 950.00 Python.

She's a beauty bigtubby. No need for buyers remorse on that purchase. I love those grips. I think I need a set for my 686.

+1 on "Didn't overpay".

You paid exactly what you were willing to pay for it and it really doesn't matter what others might have paid or not.

But I would have paid the same too. Looks like a nice revolver. Congratulations.

I do not pity you and you should not shed a tear.

I do envy you, though and hope you have fun with that sweet girl.

$550 for that gun would be a smokin' deal in my area.

Of course, you can't really "overpay" for a S&W, sometimes you might "buy it too soon." :D

yea $550 is an awesome price for that gun. I was looking at one what was in much worse shape that that recently, for the same price, and I would have snapped it up if it were in that shape.

I'll echo everyone else in saying you didn't overpay ,and I'll also add that the nice thing about a model 19 is that you'll always be able to get your money out of it. They are among the most desirable of the old Smiths (after gems like the registered magnum, model 28, .38-44 and some other rare variants), not being made any more, and prices on them seem to keep going up and up. I got my 95-97ish% condition 8 years ago for $295, and overpaid at the time. These days, you'd think I was robbing someone if they sold that gun to me at that price.

That 19 is going ot be a great shooter for you! I just hope you can find some .38spl target ammo for less than $21/box. It seems .38 prices have gone nuts recently.

That is a $600 gun ALL DAY LONG. You did well. How do I know about 19"s? A year from now it will be worth $700, following year $800..........pre lock 19 ' are GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pre lock 19 ' are GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aren't all 19's pre-lock?

And please do tell us about that one in the center row, second from the bottom. Unless the flash was playing tricks, it has a blued frame but nickel barrel and cylinder? Do my eyes deceive me?

Rubbing our nose in it AGAIN 311? To think I use'ta like jarheads! Tubby, you owe this guy for keeping the mod 19 prices up by reducing available supply! or he owes you? Now how would that work again? Well, who's on first?

I saw Model 19's for sale for $950 and Pythons for $2000 this weekend. That was askin' not buyin' prices, but you din't do too bad I'm thinkin'.

19-3Ben,
That is a 'Pinto' 19. I bought a TRASHED 19 for $300 and always wanted a 'Pinto' so............off it went to S&W. $252 dollars later this is how it came back. The blue is DEEP ROYAL BLUE.

Good price, great gun. That gun doesn't show any signs of shooting wear. I have a nice 6" 19-3 and a 14-3 (I have a "3" collection for some reason). The 19 gives you the option of putting something "longer" in it for special occasions.

Medium to heavy .38 Special rounds shouldn't ever wear that gun out.

I don't think a gun is broken in until I've shot the price of the gun in ammo through it.
