I'm re-posting the Illinois State Rifle Association alert

URGENT ALERT – YOUR IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED

ISRA-SUPPORTED HB 0997 COMING UP FOR A VOTE SOON

HB 0997, the ISRA supported version of Concealed Carry will be coming up for a vote at any time. It is urgently important that you take action immediately.

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO GET THIS BILL PASSED

1. Call your State Representative and politely inform them that you are a law-abiding Illinois firearm owner and that you want them to vote “YES” on HB0997. If you do not know who your state representative is, the Illinois State Board of Elections has an interactive search page here:
www.elections.state.il.us/DistrictLocator/DistrictOfficialSearchByAddress.aspx

If you know who your representative is, you can find their contact info here:
www.ilga.gov/house/.

2. Politely inform your representative that you OPPOSE any bill that is a “MAY ISSUE”

3. Be sure to pass this alert on to your friends and family and ask them to make calls as well.

4. Be sure to post this alert to any and all Internet blogs and bulletin boards to which you belong.

Your participation is making a difference!

The new bill has generous reciprocity built in.

(b)(1) Notwithstanding subsection (a), a nonresident of Illinois may carry a handgun in accordance with this Act if the nonresident:

(A) is 21 years of age or older;

(B) has in his or her immediate possession a valid license that authorizes the individual to carry a concealed firearm issued to him or her by his or her home state; and

(C) is a legal resident of the United States.

Back to the drawing board. Still, we need to keep making those calls and emails demanding that a strong bill is put in place, not some watered-down nonsense. If you're a law abiding citizen of the state of IL, you should be able to pack.

The question is what will we have to give up to get those 7 votes. Or will they just let the clock run out?

I'd be happy to carry to work without a permit, or any restrictions. but that wouldn't do the poor saps in Chicago any good.

MAY issue failed MISERABLY when it came up for a vote. It's clear that's not what the people want.

No, it is not. The you, me and the rest of the good citizens of the state of Illinois are fed up with the constant violence that we must endure by organized criminals and gangs that proliferate our streets. Keep spreading the word. I was in a LGS just the other day and convinced first-time gun owners to sign up for the NRA and call their reps. There's no being "half-way" on this issue if you own a gun. If you're in, you're in. Grass roots efforts are working, as proven by the defeat of the Senate bill for UBC showed just the other night. They can work in IL too, but we need to reach out to all gun owners who are currently not involved, and also all non-gun owners that are on the fence. We can make this happen!

Here are the vote totals. Close, but no cigar.

Looks like we're headed for uncharted territory, unless something changes.

It will be interesting after June 10th. I can see the city having to pay out million$ is 1983 civil rights violation$ when Anita Alverez and her stooges prosecute UUW pinches.
