Picked this up a while back at a local pawn shop. It's a stainless steel Blackhawk in .357 Magnum with a 4 5/8" barrel. So far it has been doing well with Federal 125 grain semi-jacketed HP. The holster is a Threepersons from El Paso Saddlery.

It shoots a lot more accurately than I can. I have never had a Ruger that wouldn't just flat out shoot. I have another Blackhawk in .45 Colt in the same barrel length that also shoots wonderfully. I'll see if I have some pictures of it also.

Here is the only pic I have of the .45 Colt Blackhawk. Sorry for the cruddy iPhone picture.

Salmoneye, yeah the grips are rough. It's the ones that came with it, when I bought it. A new set will eventually be added, but it may be awhile. I have a tendency to buy nice holsters and belts before grips. These fit my hands well, so there is not any urgency on my part.

although an old thread, sure people still stop by so i thought id post!
my gun minus the optics but do still have the scope mounts!

my baby, .44 Ruger Red Hawk, last out at the range was hitting 100 yards no optics! my gun minus the optics but do still have the scope mounts!

Good combination on the barrel length and finish, would make a good backpacking gun.

If they fit, and you are happy, then by all means shoot the hell out of them...

I was purely going on the 'proud' metal at the bottom of the grip in your .45 pic...

With my 'retentive' nature, feeling that stepped transition would drive me nuts...

I was sincere when I said nice guns!

Thanks, Salmoneye. I hope to put new grips eventually, but then I will have to refinished the gripframe to make it look right. That's one thing I hate about Ruger, that stupid aluminum gripframe finish. It was half gone on the backstrap when I bought the thing. Been that way on every blued Blackhawk in the used gun case I look at. Wish they would make them all steel.

Bush Pilot

I believe that Ruger only made 300 of the stainless Blackhawk .357/9mm. convertibles.

Many people polish off the anodized coating...

Williams Shooters Supply, according to the Ruger website.
I like the BH and SBH.

Two Mosins for that SBH.
Did you have to run away, after stealing that SBH? ;)
Nice trade on your part.
I like Mosins, but I like Rugers more.
My buddy recently bought an SBH Hunter .44 mag.
I want the Bisley SBH Hunter, and I really wish they still made it in .45 Colt.
Nothing against .44 mag. It's one of my favorite hunting rounds, but I don't have a 7.5" .45 Colt.
My RH takes care of .44 mag revolver hunting.
Funny thing, I never liked the look of a Bisley.
Then I held one.
Now, I gotta get one.
