So I've been getting more hours in at work and decided hey, I need an ak style rifle but not one that's gonna break the bank. I found two rifles that are in the price range but they both happen to be Romanian rifles. The m+m m10 and the gp/wasr 10. The wasr comes with 2 mags but is more expensive. The m10 from the reviews I've read has a better fit and finish. What do you guys think and do any of you have experience with either of these rifles. Info is much appreciated.

I just go the M&M a week ago. Surely better than a Wasr. Chrome lined bore seems very accurate too. Got mine at Kentucky Gun Co online for $600. Cant be beat for the price and the 3.5lb trigger is sweet too. I find the Rpk rear sight to be kinda crappy, as the blade wiggles side to side and up n down. Im replacing it with a Parabellum Armament top rail/sight.

AK style on a budget. Most reassuring quality comes with the SAIGA, they are imported fully assembled at the AK factory. There is nothing wrong with WASR except it may be less consistent due to the mix and match parts. Don't pay extra for a thicker receiver, it will only make your AK heavier but still not a machine gun. A milled receiver looks good, but its practical advantage may mot be worth going over budget. I prefer the understatement of an all black Saiga to a military style refurb, but that's a matter of taste. They all work.

I personally went with a Saiga rifle, and am in the process of converting it. I bought it for about 450, but that was before The Great Panic of 2012-13. Never had any issues of any sort with my Saiga. Period. It's just a good, solid, reliable rifle.

i have the romy m10 and a wasr 1063m, the m10 is clearly better in fit and finish and all matching numbers if that means anything...does to me. the wasr 1063m is clearly what i want in an ak, no frills/not pretty/not worried about gettin scratched etc...but ready to rock n roll=ak. never owned a saiga cause the romys i have straight up works. both are pretty darn accurate for an ak. either one will serve you just fine
my wasr 1063m to my liking

For now the going prices on the Saigas are back to where they started.
Dcarch. Is that for real, the Iowa law? Best quote.

IF you can't inspect the rifle before buying it online what would you go with? I know I can send it back if I don't like what I see at the ffl but I'd rather not go through all the trouble.

between the two, i would pick the m10. even though im 6,480 miles away when I purchased 5 of my romy cugir ak variants without inspecting them, I never had any problems with them and that's including the sights which they are mostly known for.

If I was on tight budget and wanted civilian version of AKM that is exactly what I would get.

No, the law isn't true, unfortunately. It just kinda seems like it round here. Somethin' me and my buddies joke about a fair amount. :)
