Top Shot Returns -New Season

Hmmmmm.... hard to find the words to sum up the entire experience, because its the sum total of all those little moments that leaves such a huge lasting impression for all of us that lived and competed together. Some great examples of shooting, ever greater examples of sportsmanship.

I played the game both ways, in the drama laced first season and in the all-star all-skill season 5. And as a guy sometimes fueled by hate, I have to say there might really be something to all this positive energy stuff. Ha!

Its funny how all these quirky historical weapons and sometimes goofy challenges really do boil it down to the two best shooters in the end. Its a formula I don't always understand, but it really does work!

We dubbed Phil a BAMF early on, and he demonstrated that at every stage to the very end !!

Watched the finale last night. Just pure consistency won. Young enough to be speedy and keep the breathing in control while exerting external energy, experienced enough to have a calm inner mind, contact with a range of guns/weapons and above all, be a TOP SHOT.

This Three Gun stuff, I'm impressed. Must try.

Funny how often than happens. On Season 1, I was holding the Mosin Nagant as my PR rifle... and that is the one that did me in, too

That's something I've always wondered, do you guys get to choose which piece you pose with for the trailer? Never seen two people with the same, so guessing there's a system for that? or is it random, and they hand one of you the RPG and say "now look cool." LoL

I'd go with 2 1911s if I had the choice ,

yes I'd LOVE to compete in this show! Especially if they stick with the elimination range vs voting. I've applied for past seasons. Will do again.

Having mostly ignored the show this season due to prior seasons getting too "reality show dramatic", I might have missed some good stuff, but watched the last show. I could not believe that 3 of the top four were from my home state, Ohio. I guess I it doesn't surprise me THAT much, as I know a lot of great shooters, and often looked at what they were doing along the first couple seasons and thought, "CRAP! I can do THAT!", and I'm 60 years old! I live in the same town Chris Cerrino lives in, and we have never shot together. Before the show, I had never heard of him, and when I bumped into him several weeks ago at a sports bar, we spoke, and he had never heard of ME. :what: I was heartbroken!:D I thought EVERYONE knew I was the best shot in town! What I do find interesting, is that both Cerrino and I are hard core shooters, and soft core cops (we both have time in civilian law enforcement), but don't seem to be or have been career cops: basically shooters who BECAME cops as part of the justification of our real careers, which seem to be shooting (what else do you do with a strong aptitude in firearms and shooting? It's either cops or robbers, right?) Well, someday I hope to shoot with Cerrino; it would be nice to have someone who could or would keep me challenged. All the others were great, and it made me proud to have three of the best from my state. Just a shame a guy from Michigan beat the Ohio boys. (WE get that same crap at the OSU vs. Michigan games!)

I was also happy to see 3 of the final 4 from Ohio. Chris shot at a 3 gun competition at our club last fall. He won handily. His time was about half what mine was on a seven stage event. I was pulling for him this season - hoping to feel a little better about my skill set :)

Loved this past season - reality "drama" dialed down to pretty much zero. Nice challenges, sportsmanship and shooting.
Tried the Q-tip challenge myself, and did a bit better than the competitors - with iron sights at longer distance. :)

I wonder how well you'd do if your team depended on your success with everyone was watching, including a million or two on tv, and with the realization that missing means you might be going home.

I wonder about that myself. I Honestly have no idea... but it was fun to try.

AND without your personal rifle that you're intimately familiar with it's POI and trigger pull.

Re Q-tip. After 40 years of active shooting, the one thing that I can do pretty well is block out stress. Gunny Hathcock called it "getting in your bubble", and that translates to focusing on your job: sights, breathing, body alignment, slow steady press, etc. Nothing else matters; just the shot. You get into, and stay, in your own little bubble. What everyone else is doing doesn't really matter. What I liked about the Q-tip challenge was the rifle setup they were using was WAY better than any .22 I have.
