Man, really appreciate the feedback fellas. A guy can learn a lot when many put there head together. Does anyone have an opion on getting a used pair of Leicas for around 550 vs a new pair of $500 binos? If I can save the extra money, would it be worth it?

if you can find a good non scratched beat up pair of Lieca BN's or Trinovids for $550 you'd better sang them. They are so far superior to what we've been talking about there isn't even really a comparison. HOWEVER $550 for even a used pair of Lieca BN's would be a MAJOR steal.

After all the research I ordered the Cabelas Euros for 600. Pretty much the poor mans swaro with Cabelas warranty. I looked through Swaros yesterday and compared them to Leicas, Leupolds, vortex, zeiss...IMO there is swaro...and there is everything else.

Pentax 8x42 for me as well. I've had them 7 or 8 years now and no regrets at all. I wear glasses and have no problems at all.

I like the elastic 4 point sling for these when hunting. There are several brands for this style sling cost is $20 or so.

Check out the closeout on Weaver Nitrex binoculars at NatchezSS. I bought a pair of both the 10 x 42 full size and the compact 8x25. Yes, the are close out/discontinued, but they are fully waterproof, have a lifetime guarantee, are good quality Japanese glass. For the money, they are exceptionally clear and sharp. Both the 8x42 and the 10x42 are on the heavy side, IMO, for a hunting vest; but, they are excellent for general purpose scouting, birding, and looking at the night sky. I had a pair of Swarovski 10X42 binos of similar size and weight for many years, until my son somehow lost them on one of his 4-wheeler outings in the woods. I couldn't afford to replace them at today's prices, but these, believe it or not, come awfully close at a fraction of the price, IMO. Unless you just want to spend more money . . .

Oops, I see the 10x42's are gone. The 8x42's are still available.

Vanguard Endeavors on Sale Again

I just got an Amazon Gold Box blast saying the 8x42's are on Gold Box sale again just for today. Sale price is $199.99 with a $50 rebate. These binos are supposed to be equivalent to Vortex Vipers, Pentax DCF CF, Nikon Monarch ATB, Zen Ray ED3s.

The Endeavors are superior in the $4-500 field. I really like mine although I paid $200 for them and thought I got a steal. Now they're $149.99.

Hope this helps.
