Has anyone seen this?

http://blog.seattlepi.com/seattlepolitics/2013/11/19/sandy-hook-inspired-game-sparks-outrage/

Its a game that re-enacts the sandy hook incident.

EDIT: Its meant to be an anti-gun statement.

A link to the game is below.

After it was played by me and a friend, we discussed it.

We noted that Glock should sue.

There was no option to say, "Mom, I feel like killing people. Can you stay home and talk to me?" It forces you to kill her.

There was no option to see a therapist.

There was no option to just kill yourself.

You have the option to NOT kill anyone at the school except yourself.

EDIT: You never have to reload. You have infinite ammo.

We noted that it was nearly impossible to hurt/injure anyone in the "Gun-free" mode.

Any comments? (Its controversial, keep it civil please.)

If video games are a contributor to mass shootings - and that's a big "if," as I'm not sure there's any definitive link, but I'm not sure they've been eliminated as a possible source - this would qualify as one of the worst ideas in my lifetime, at least.

Now, if someone made a similar game to train first responders or CCW-holders for that scenario, it would be beneficial, and not really have taken any more effort.

Most antis are against violence both physical and digital, so they make a game about an event they said we shouldn't politicize. <deleted>

I am at a loss as to why someone would create such a game as anti-gun propaganda.

The only real reason that comes to mind is that it keeps the event in the news.

What does this have to do with guns?:scrutiny:
Nothing.

Do car forums have endless posts about drunk drivers who killed a bunch of nuns?
No.

Do woodworkers forums have endless posts about axe murderers?
No.

That is just disgusting... especially with the anniversary around the corner.

It reminds me of that game Postal, about being a postal worker going "off" in a shooting spree at work. When you have games like Grand Theft Auto that encourage players to abuse women for points, shoot police officers etc., this type of thing is only natural. Sick and twisted minds are celebrated now.

It was released as an anti-gun statement. However, the focus is on the violence.

It was tasteless. It seemed like the wrong way to present the issue. It wasnt .. High Road. (For lack of a better phrase.)

I am at a loss as to why someone would create such a game as anti-gun propaganda.

In my opinion, it seemed more pro-violence, than anti-gun.

But it clearly had an anti-gun message.

It had a "Historical" playthru and a "Gun-Free" playthru. It was next to impossible to hurt anyone with the ninja sword or sledgehammer they give you.

The message: If you didn't have a gun, you couldnt go on a killing spree.

What does this have to do with guns?
Nothing.

You're probably right. If the MODs agree with you, then by all means take this down.

When I first heard about this, I thought, "Thats messed up."

Then I read that it was an anti-gun message. My curiosity led me to check it out.

After discussing it with my friend, I wondered what other people thought about it. So I brought it here.

I may be mistaken. It was late.

I have not played nor have I looked at the game. But from what I have been reading on other sites at the end of the game it directs you to contact your represenitive on gun control. Is this true??

I would look myself but I really have no desire. A lot of people are compairing this game to Grand Theft auto and first person shooting games, but those games do not have you shooting underage (young people) I believe...but I dont play those either.

It certainly sounds like this is anti-gun, as links to gun control websites are provided after you play the game. That's about all the evidence anyone should need in order to conclude that the game is anti-gun. I agree that Glock should take some action here, assuming their name/logo was featured in the game.

Not to change the subject, but it seems like a few people have some misconceptions about Grand Theft Auto. I haven't played the first three games in the series, but GTA IV and V don't ever (as far as I can remember) promote or "give points" for killing innocent people. Unless its done specifically to satirize something in modern society, both of the games seem to be pretty morally sound. Both of these games involve a lot of very clever satire (on modern American politics and pop culture especially).

This game is just distasteful.

I didnt get a chance to play the game. I will say this despite what anyone may say video games and the internet will desensitize someone. It has me, it has my siblings who are my age. Us 90s kids got to be the spear edge into the virtual violence. I've played games from pong to GTA5 these video games coupled with movies like Rampage (one of my favorite movies actually) its no wonder some kids turn into psychopaths. If the gene is there its not likely a problem on its own but couple it with mountains of violence and gore and then it becomes a problem.
4chan is by far one of the best place desensitize yourself to everything from common violence to rape to murder. Now this dosent mean they CAUSE them to snap or go crazy, but it will contribute. Its alot like the 4473 and them not wanting to punish law breakers, with parents simply buying children any game they want and not using the rating system for games and movies.
To say simply that video games and movies cause violence is to say that guns cause me to kill people. I find it interesting that the makers of the game chose to make the guns so much more dangerous then the katana (I'm sure in an actual scenario there would have been less injured but quite a few more dead)

This shows us one thing, that some anti gun people will do off the wall things simply to push their agenda no matter who they hurt.

To give a personal example I as a child watched the hills have eyes, and I was traumatized by the scene of the man who kills himself with the break action double barrel shotgun. The gore burned itself into my mind and I didnt sleep well for around a year.

You don't see automobiles or axes being banned, like it or not the gun control debate is relative and has the potential to affect each of us, hence most of us want to know what's going on.

If only there was a way to have a list of topics that one could sort through before reading the full post, oh wait...

The vast majority of people...ordinary, every day people...are very easily able to tell the difference between a video game and real life.

I have played plenty of GTA and COD and all kinds of other video games, and I know plenty of other people who have too...including people who play the hell out of the brand new GTA5...people who are very fine upstanding citizens who own guns and have served their country in combat...

Video games are not the problem.

Guns are not the problem.

Human nature and the fact that there is that 1 in 300 million person who will do things like this is the problem, and you can't fix that.

...although getting rid of these asinine "gun free" zones could mitigate a little bit.

^ I'd also like to add that Grand Theft Auto dose not encourage players to "abuse women for points" in anyway there are no points in gta.:scrutiny:

As for this other "Game" it boggles my mind that the people who made this game think that there its some thing wrong with us???:uhoh:

Lol no it was for money (the prostitutes) in gta. how could it NOT be an pro gun control statement?

Where is there a reference to it being an anti-gun statement or created as such? I didnt see that.
He himself said it was made to promote strict gun laws.

http://hypervocal.com/news/2013/slaying-sandy-hook-game/

And I mean honestly, how could this NOT carry an anti-gun message, especially with the inclusion of the "gun control mode" which gives you a sword etc, and basically doesn't allow you to kill hardly anyone. If it weren't anti-gun, it would also include a mode where a teacher is carrying a gun and the player gets shot.

This game is made by some freak who takes what the media does (publicizing and perpetuating a tragedy for political gain) and goes many steps further by basically insulting the victims in the most insensitive way possible.

Didn't another anti group make a similar game about killing the president of the NRA? What peaceful bunch.

I play plenty of violent games. I am a firearm owner. I am in the military. I am a member of the NRA And funnily enough, I have yet to use my firearm to kill innocent people. Crazy right?
