Not sell to people in state seems strange. Is this law or Natchez policy.
Natchez policy. They sell to distributors in the Southeast and don't want to undercut those guys by selling to individuals.

Policy. They evidently sell wholesale to buisnesses in the SE so they won't sell to individuals in that area. I have the same problem with them not selling to me in AL. :(

EDIT: Dang, jrdolall beat me to it!

Stophel, been a lot happening that has kept me from shooting and being on THR. my wife of 43 years is in bad health and just enjoying each day as we have from the time we met. It seems also I have lived at the VA a lot lately. That tour in 68-69 takes a toll on me as I hit 66. Byron

I know a lot of folks will chide others, often in a snarky tone, "well, you should have stocked up while you had the chance like I did!" Well, sometimes life happens, and we have far more pressing and immediate concerns than buying ammo. "Stocking up" is not even thought about. Then, when things calm down and we get back into it, it's shocking to see what is going on! I would NEVER have thought that .22 LR ammo would be this hard to come across. Ammo for evil black rifles and military surplus ammo, I understand (and we can pretty much get that now!), but .22? Also, we don't all have big wads of cash laying around to buy up mass quantities of guns and ammo... even when it's "cheap". We have to just get what we can, when we can, with what we have. ;)

I'm also pretty much limiting my already limited ammo purchases to a few calibers. Not looking for .44 Special or 7.65mm Mauser. For rifles, I'm gonna go with .243 and 7mm Mauser, and pistols, .38 Special and .45ACP... and I haven't gotten any of the last three in quite some time. And .22, of course... :D

I am not much of a shotgun shooter. I should be, I guess. What is the state of shotgun shells today? Prices and availability ok?

I also did the Midway backorder. 22lr is still being snatched up by hoarders and resellers around here.

I was at farm and fleet the other day. the ammo shelf was well stocked except for the noticeably empty part where 22RF was supposed to be.

I have seen no 22RF at the local walmart at all for many months. I have seen varying amounts of other ammo, but zero 22RF.

When I was at the Bass Pro grand opening Wed night between 6:30 and 8:30pm I would estimate they sold between 300,000 and 500,000 rounds of 22 in that 2hr period. It's hard to get the reality of whats going until you see it first hand.

Wonder where they got that much 22. That's more ammo than my local Academy has seen in a full year let alone at one time.

Last week walmart here in waterford, ct had 550rd boxes of fed 22lr for $23 and change. I bought 2, 3 box limit, there were 4 boxes left. This is the first 22lr I've seen in the past year.

Home Depot George, that is pretty amazing. What city was this Bass Pro opened in? It has been a while since I checked Bass Pro's website for new stores.

140,000.... that's a bit more than I have on hand. :D

I recently cruised through 2 Bass Pro Shops, a Cabela's and a Walmart on the same day here in NE Kansas and found ZERO 22LR. Same story for preferred gun powders. It ain't gettin' better from my viewpoint.

Palm Bay Florida. Like I said before they've been receiving ammo shipments for a while which is why they had so much on hand but from what I heard they sold out of 9mm,45 and 22lr bulk packs the day after the grand opening .

Don't you guys know it's because Obama is selling it all to the Syrian rebels because they are bad shots and can only handle .22LR. :D

Seriously someone told me that! It's the most ridiculous reason for the shortage I've heard yet.

Eventually supply will catch up with demand. The hoarders and especially the re-sellers are prolonging this shortage though.

Guns and ammo have suddenly become more mainstream than ever before guys. This is just the unavoidable fallout of so many new shooters and people wanting to stock up on ammo at once. Being the .22LR is what people seem to buy most, it will be the last thing to come back in regular supply.

I decided to just shoot a lot less and get a good pellet rifle and pistol instead of stressing over the .22 ammo.

This is a nationwide, and likely permanent problem for those of us who like to shoot .22.

The only way for me to find any, is to show up to Sportsman's Warehouse at 9am when they open on Thursday when they get their shipment and buy one bulk box. I waited for months to have a free Thursday morning. .22 goes off the shelves within minutes of going on the shelves. This is the new reality.

Local W-M had Federal 550 packs today, first time I've seen any Federal 550 packs at any of the 5 or so semi-local W-Ms since January... They limit all .22 purchases to 1 box at this store, even 50ct, so I got my 1 pack and there were still 7 left on the shelf. This was at 8AM.

I have seen a wide variety of stuff from CCI 50rds, CCI 100 Rds, Rem 225rds, Fed 325rds, Win 50rds, Win 100rds, and a couple Win 500rds, etc. locally, in the last couple months, so supply is def starting to catch up :) Happy to finally get a brick of the Fed 550, since that seems to function the smoothest in my rifle and be the best price/quality combo. :D

I tend to find more 22lr locally instead of online, but in local gun shops, not big box stores like Walmart or Gander.

My LGS had bricks of 22lr ammo for $70 (500rds). This is obviously more than what I'd like to pay, but I'm not complaining because they have it in stock if anyone needs to buy it.
They are not forcing their customers to buy it at that steep price, but I for one am glad its in stock since I can't go to Walmart at 7am to wait in line for the few bricks of cheap 22lr ammo.

While I am not hurting for 22LR, stocked up after 2008. It is an interesting thought, I wonder if someone could invent a press that loads 22LR, a squirt of primer, a squirt of powder and a 40 grain 223 head should do the trick.

Interesting.

I was thinking that if someone had the resources and technical ability now might be a good time to go into manufacturing ammo. I would start with rim fire. Creat some jobs, help the economy and keep our country armed and ready. What's not to like.

The Impossible .22 Rimfire.

Some ammunition is relative easy to make if one has the needed components:

However, the lowly little 22 rimfire is another story. :(

How long has this ".22 shortage" lasted?

If you had a 3-year supply of the ammo you actually used, would this "shortage" have affected you personally?

It was easily available 13-15 months back so a 3 year supply would be plenty of reserve. As for actually using it, use just determines how much you need to last those 3 years.

Yes, I was at BSP last Wednesday and I personally witnessed the sale of over 500 boxes of .22 in less than 3 hours. How do I know? I was there, purchased 1, asked the clerk how many, he told me over 500. It was crazy.
