Good morning all.
Received a used Remington 770 for Christmas from a friend of a friend. He said he fired less then 20 rounds thru it and it's in really good shape so it's possible. We did shoot a few rounds he had in pocket I am clueless as what they were with no problem.
So I went out and bought a box of 150 grain Rem Core-Lokt and tried to shoot some.
Well the first round got stuck pretty tight, so we removed it and the second did the same. I do load and have some new brass, dies and all and am wondering what the problem could be.
It was very cold when we went shooting so is it possible some oil may have stuck the brass to the chamber?
I will be doing a good cleaning the next few days and was looking for some thoughts? I miked the new brass, brass that was stuck and the loaded ammo and there was virtually no difference.

Was it hard to lift the bolt, or did the case just not want to extract? Any clues at all on the fired brass like severely flattened primer, or marks from buildup in the chamber?

hard to say with the info you gave . take some metal polish cotton patch , nylon brush and drill and spend about 30 second polishing the chamber and neck area going at a low speed . Clean it up and try a cartridge again. Also as much out of spec ammo as there been around over the last couple years grab a box of hornady to also try. If it chambers and extracts with a remmy bolt it can't be to tight as its not a controlled feed system. Don't for get to clean up polish and lub the back side and edges of the bolt lugs. Dry bolt lugs cab give you a sticky feel.

Here's what they look like.
A good cleaning is coming A/S/A/P! Bolt moves up and down easily just doesn't extract, when no cartridge it's very smooth.

Make sure you have the correct type of 7 MM mag. There should be no problem with factory loads. A gunsmith can cast the camber to see if there are any issues. It could have a modified chamber or barrel. This should be checked by a professional if it is more than an ammo error.

One case looked bigger than the other. Are you sure you did not shoot hot loads. That would cause it.

d2wind is right! Check the caliber on the bbl. of the rifle and make sure what cartridge you are using matches it. 7mm Rem mag, 7mm Mauser,7mm Rum etc....:what:
