I currently do not own a concealed/open carry permit. However, I'm going on a hike on Saturday and I was wondering if I would be able to carry my Glock 20SF without getting into any trouble. I'll be going up on the Appalachian trail in Pennsylvania. Thanks.

Yeah I don't mind the cold as others do. I can't stand the heat though.

Dunno, but if you conceal it well, why worry about it? A pocket 9, like the 14 oz Keltec PF-9, especially with the 10 oz Twisted Industries .22lr unit, is a fun little partner to have with you on a hike. If you want to plink, tho, better get off of the main trail. I recommend a front pants pocket rig, all the time and everywhere. If your gun and rig are not suitable for running or hiking, it's not much of an EDC setup.

Not familiar with the ownership of the Appalachian Trail, state or federal?

If federal, different rules may apply.

It is owned by multiple sources - state and federal depending on the forest, park, or wilderness area through which it passes.

From what I have seen, I think you are treading on dangerous ground here, especially without the the PA concealed carry license.

I have a tendency toward over-cautiousness, so YMMV. If it was me, I'd have the PA concealed carry license and a PA hunting license with what I think PA calls a "Sportsman's carry" license " (look it up). G20 is a pretty good sized pistol. At least, I'd consider the sportsman's license and a .22 rifle. I'm also kind of hinky about open carry, although I think it's legal in PA and with the weather y'all are having up there, anybody you meet is probably gonna be pretty brave or about crazy anyweays....

open carry is legal in pa. you cannot carry it it loaded in a vehicle without a license to carry. you dont need a sportsmans permit if you have a lisense to carry.

why don't you just keep your yap shut instead of announcing it to the world.

Yes because game wardens across PA will be hitting the Appalachian trail asking if someone is called "hatzing" looking for a firearm.
