I really must have my head in the sand, or maybe elsewhere. I happened upon a new Henry in 22 WM today and decided to check it out. My word, the action was amazingly smooth and crisp. The trigger was very nice, not perfect, but we are talking a lever gun.

In any event, I had previously considered myself to be somewhat of a lever gun aficionado, why, until now, I'd overlooked Henry is beyond me

Needless to say it came home with me, I hope for a range report soon. If it shoots even half as good as it handles, it promises to be a high value lever action rimfire.

Did you get the lighter round barrel blued model or the Golden Boy with the octagon barrel?

I have the Golden Boy. It is a bit heavy, but sure is smooth. I outshot a guy with my open sights competing with a Savage scoped 22lr rifle. We were in a seated position at 50 yards. He was pi$$ed at his Savage when we were through. Mine is very smooth and seems to draw fans at the range. The heavier model makes the recoil almost non existent. I hope you enjoy yours as well as I enjoy mine :)

I have the plain ol' H001, which I really enjoy shooting. I installed a 2" Limbsaver recoil pad, in order to deal with that horrific .22 l.r. recoil.

Last year I finally got my first lever action; a Henry H001TM. Sure wish I hadn't waited so long.

Would love to have the carbine model with the large loop lever. Would go great with my Rossi Model 92 with the same configuration.

I have had mine for about six years now . It will put together some amazing groups when I do my part . The fit a finish is great, and the action is smooth. An added bonus is that it is a beautiful rifle. The only trouble I have had is that my wife has the same taste in rifles that she does in shoes. ;) .......She likes them "pretty " , so I spend a lot of range time and ammo watching my wife shoot my Henry Golden Boy 22 mag . :banghead:

Does your gun have the metal barrel bands and metal front sight or are they plastic? That was what stopped me from getting one years ago. Now you can upgrade the older guns and I beleive the newer ones come with the metal parts on them. And the 22 mag is a fantastic round. You bought yourself a neat present.

Do you mind telling what it cost?

Guys, here are a couple pictures of the rifle, it does have metal barrel bands, a metal front sight and a round barrel.

I just know this one is going to push the fun factor over the top :)

I have almost bought one a couple of times. I enjoy shooting my 6" .22 Mag revolver. A rifle to go with it would be nice. You're not helping things. :)

they do seem like nice rifles.ive had a couple of them over the years. they shot just fine.seemed like good guns for the money also. they just didnt seem to measure up to my model 39 marlins so i traded them off. i cant get excited about alloy receiver anything as far as guns go.

My Marlin 39 is not going anywhere, it is a very fine rifle. In 22 wmr though, I haven't seen much out there lever-wise these days.

that is true, not a lot on the market period for 22 mag rifles.ive been on the lookout for a older win 22 mag for years. prob aint gonna happen.

Almost forgot, I bought the rifle on a trip to Oregon, the price was $425 plus $10 for the Oregon State Police BG check, so $435 OTD. I'll tell you what, I've actioned plenty Henrys in stores, this one felt special, and I like 22wmr, we shall see, nothing in life is a guarantee. I'm keeping a positive approach with this one, I really believe it will prove to be a fine lever gun that I'll be proud to own.

.
Congrats! What an awesome piece.

I've been eyeballin' one of these hanging on the wall at my lgs; a Henry .22 Magnum lever carbine... I want! And it's priced at $439 (CA). Here, too, 50 rds of .22 Magnum is 14.00.

I can't get it.

I have a deposit on a nearly-new FAL and I need a bigger safe, THEN I can DROS that Henry! sometime later this spring.

:)

Here's my Henry in .22WMR, Bought it for $499 in 2008. I think they may be more $$$ now.

My Golden Boy originally came with the black forearm barrel band shown in the picture. I sent an email and asked to acquire the brass band. A week or so later I received a brass forearm/barrel band in the mail free of charge. Made a nice difference in appearance. I have noticed all of the Golden Boy models now have the brass forearm/barrel band on newer guns. Customer oriented company for sure :)

I know it isn't an expensive collectors gun, but my Golden Boy is a keeper and will become an heirloom for my kids someday. I plan to have some wear marks on it when that time comes :)

.
It's been over two weeks! How about an update! lol.

Okay, I'll begin:

I still have that DSA SA58 on deposit, and two months to pay it off. I'm looking for that bigger safe. Meanwhile, I simply could not live without grabbing one of these Henry levers in .22 mag. I just jailed one! and I get to bring it home a week from Thursday.

Already have a nice pile of .22 wmr waiting. Heehawww!

:)

last year I sold a new golden boy 22mag to my cousin, the action was silky-smooth out of the box, now after 2-3 hundred rounds the cartridges load themselves LOL...

congrats on your new toy, sure to love it ;)

Today I ventured out to just enjoy the warm day and after looking thru my cabinets I picked out 2 rifles to shoot. First was a tried and true Marlin 60, older than dirt but still shoots as good as the day I bought it way back when. The Second was my wife's Henry, every time I buy one with my name on it someone lays claim to it. Without a doubt the Henry is still my favorite in 22cal period. Now after reading your post I think I will start looking for my own Henry in 22Mag. Thing I really like about the Henry that has joint custody is it will handle 22 shorts, Longs or Long Rifle and if I didn't shake so darn much I think you could shoot the eye out of a Gnat at 50yrds. Waiting for your range report.

I too have been looking at this Henry as i have a bit of a lever fascination { mostly JM stamped Marlins } I stumbled on the Uberti silverboy, and it looked like a nice lever gun as well. I searched around to see if there was any comparison between the 2, but came up with nothing. So what say you high road, how do they compare.

Would love to have the carbine model with the large loop lever. Would go great with my Rossi Model 92 with the same configuration.

Just received my H001L yesterday...carbine with large loop. Love it. Mounted a TRS-25 red dot on it, which, of course, keeps with the old-fashioned, "western" theme. ;)

Shoots great. Really good trigger for a lever gun.
