Is this junk or not?

Looks like China junk whenever I see a laser/vfg/light/can opener. You would be better off with a decent quality 1" tube flashlight and a 1" scope ring mounted to your rail.

Depends on the gun. On a 12ga that is a good way to scratch up a flashlight, break a scope ring, and mar a rail! (personal experiance. I even put blue locktite on the inner surface of the ring.)

You must have had a bad ring, undersized light or a out of spec or plastic rail;). A single scope ring will hold up to a lot of abuse, just look at all the Aimpoints mounted with 1 ring. I have my Jetbeam BC40 mounted in a Burris steel QD ring and its been dropped a few times, both on my AK and AR. That Burris ring clamps with gusto.:)

The Sig Sauer STL-300J STOPLITE is a rebranded iTAC-TDL1. Vendor direct prices are about $220, street about $178. Reviews are generally positive but some mixed. They all seem to say very bright. Latest version uses a 700 lumen rated LED run at only 400 lumen for battery life.

I have no experience but it looks interesting. I'm partial using a few multi-function accessories unlike this guy :D

Great picture :D.

Id pass for that money. A Magpul VFG runs about (or inside of $25) on Midway. Then a quick search for a SureFire weapon light yielded a result for $210. So yea, thats $60 more than your option, but you know you are getting quality components with Magpul and Surefire.

Edit: I missed the laser on the "all-in-one" I guess piecemeal is getting more expensive. Given the generally intended purpose of such accessories, I personally wouldnt want to risk skimping on quality.

Undersized light: No
Plastic rail: No (Aluminum)
Bad Ring: very likely

I think the culprit is the "recoil-less" Knoxx type stock. Even my expensive TLR jumped the Picatinny slot and almost came off the end without the sides loosening (they bent)! Wonderful on the shoulder but I think it beats the hell out of accessories.

I'll venture its the same "quality" and likely the same source as the "SIG" red-dot sights that have been included with SIG rifles lately.

Consensus is that you should put them on a kid's .22, and then get a "real" piece of gear if you want it to be sturdy and reliable.

Reliably-good electronics and flashlights cost serious $$$.

If failure is an option, buy the cheap stuff.
I buy lots of cheap stuff. When it breaks, its usually no big deal.
But, when it breaks, its no big surprise either.
