NIB Ruger Mk III jams

My MKII was like that, and my MKIII 22/45 Lite has been like that, hose it down with spray lube, a lot wetter than you think is enough, fire 2-300 rounds of decent ammo, CCI mini Mags etc, clean and enjoy a pistol that'll eat anything...

When a new .22 starts jamming first look for the simple stuff rather than doing any modifications right away.

1. Take that bore snake with you to the range. Use a little bit of solvent and run it through to clean it again when you start getting jams.

2. Put a drop of oil or two on the slide to make sure its lubricated and functioning smoothly.

Often that takes care of failure to eject that is common when the bore gets dirty. Reload and shoot some more to see if the problem is gone.

3. If you still have problems with the AE ammo try the Winchester and Remington again to see if they still work well. If so the answer is pretty simple, put the AE ammo to the side for a while and shoot what works.

suggest you fully disassemble and clean everything. while you're at it, inspect all parts for stamping burrs (a 4x magnifying glass works well). you can stone (not file) the burrs off. the disconnector is a major culprit.

Ruger QC has went way down. We see people on RFC with new OOTB MKIII's and they have trigger pulls anywhere from 2.5 to 5lbs; no consistency.

Yeah tuj, I don't know what I was expecting for a trigger pull but...

if they'd put in a Volquartsen-like package in every Ruger Mark III and charge and extra $40-$50 they'd never make enough for the demand.

The first shot trigger pull is pretty bad; follow-up shots are more consistent but the take-up is awful.

Really slippery oil, keep it wet, I like mobil 1, and shoot the crap out of it. I bet you will not have any problems.

Just ordered an Edge extractor from Midway on sale for $11+ dollars.

Let us know how it goes. I'm betting it fixes your stovepipe issues, although if you still have problems confined to particular magazines, those mags may need some work as shown in the link given in my original reply.

Been there, done that.

Wally, thanks for that link, I read it, it makes sense. Now I have to shop for a 'jewelers file' and a 'burnishing tool.' More stuff on the workbench! :)
