It is 100% a FEG HP clone, worth about $300-350. Nice shooters, some collectability due to the "fake" marking system. FN parts will interchange if there is anything missing or broken.

What is this?
That serial number beginning with F is not found on any of the hi-power serial number references I can find. They used a T, but no F. I found a link to the hi-power manual that you may find useful.

This confused me at first, as well. However, if you look at the S/N on the barrel, you don't see an "F" on it. I'm thinking it may simply denote "Frame".
Regardless, the Browning S/N page does not apply to this because it's not a Hi-Power made by Browning...so the specifics on S/N data, including format, will be in accordance with whatever dictates of the company which actually made it.

1. As an owner of both a MKII and a MKIII BHP, yes, that is an FEG. A last guess would be a "Kareem", an Israeli BHP copy.
Takedown, you will find, to be fairly straight forward, and easy. Yes, don't worry about 'barrel rattle', with the slide back. Do, however, look at the underbarrel lugs, for roundings, just to be sure.
As for price, for my MKIII, I paid 980.00. But then, not everybody would choose to order a factory original MARPAT-duracoted BHP MKIII!

That is certainly a later production FEG hipower. The triangle cut in the slide and shape of the slide release is a dead giveaway.

As others have stated, the barrel unlocks from the slide and frame and tilts the breech down slightly when the slide is retracted. It moves up and locks firmly into place when the slide is all the way forward.
In the video below (a 1911, but the Hi-Power is similar), fast forward to 3:22 and pay very close attention to the barrel, especially the chamber end. You'll see how it is locks into the slide when it goes forward, but drops down to unlock when it goes to the rear.

I'm sure that it's an FEG clone of the Browning High-Power. The FEG pistols are good serviceable firearms. Price of a FEG H/P clone runs between $400.00 - $500.00. Anyone who wants a good solid medium price auto loader, could do a lot worse than an FEG pistol.

Looks pretty much identical to the FEG I had about 15 years ago. Bad trigger, but not a bad gun otherwise.
Thank you all for helping me research. I had searched awhile and come up with absolutely nothing on my own, wouldn't have been able to get even close to labeling this as an FEG Hi Power. I'm not even sure about what it all means but everyone has been great to give me resources for my own reading pleasure. I'll be doing some reading, and as soon as I head back over there I will see if I can't get my hands on the gun and take a closer look, maybe take some pictures of the things requested like the sights and whatnot. I'll write it all down so I can remember.
I also got to learn about how the particular firearm locks the barrel when the slide is forward, that was interesting. I appreciate the several of you that helped me figure that out and explain/show it to me. I love learning these things. Thanks to you all.

FN/Browning has used that location on genuine Hi Powers as well.

Well, about a million years ago, my boss showed me that if you get a gun that has been "sanitized" pretty cold, then breathe on it, you can often make out vague roll marks/Ser. Nos. As much as I despised that guy, he was often right. You might try it to see what might come up. (My boss's explanation was that the metal under a rollmark or S/N was slightly hardened over the adjoining metal, and would disperse moisture differently). I never heard it from anyone but him, but over the years, it proved to be accurate on several occasions.

It's a FEG (Hungarian Hi Power clone). FN/Browning has never used slide stops like that, and the notch in the slide that engages the slide stop is smaller than on real Hi Powers. Genuine BHPs have also never been made with a flared frontstrap like that, either.

Assuming it's an FEG and in excellent condition then I saw one last week for $395. This guy generally bargains so I could probably get it for $325 or so.
I have fired BHP's on many occasions and the FEG guns a few times. Both are generally excellent shooters.

I have the same model. It's FEGs second version of the Hi Power with that style slide stop. The S&W version came out after this style. Worth between $325-$400.
