marlin or savage

Never said most people cared about doing it. That's obvious. I just said it would make a difference. And there are some that do. I thought about it because a very good shooter told me it would be a good idea. And being a "run of the mill" Savage doesn't mean a lack of accuracy. In fact that are very accurate. I can assure you that people do care about that. I see it all the time. Apparently you do too in all these threads you talked about. BTW this "heated discussion" was about whether stiffness matters to accuracy. The person asked for opinions. I gave mine and others decided to call me a fool for thinking what I do. Well I managed to win a lot of competitions with that "run of the mill Savage" and I've shot some very good targets with it. I can't imagine anyone not caring about the accuracy of a rifle. There's a reason there are very few Armalite or Charter Arms AR-7 rifles around. You couldn't hit anything with them at all. So despite having huge advantages in some ways they disappeared. It wasn't until Henry made them passable in the accuracy department that a few of them were sold. Accuracy does matter even in the realm of the cheap, run of the mill rifle.

I have an early seventies Savage 22 auto that still flings em flawlessly and very accurate. I also have a newer model bull barrel 22wmr Savage that shoots with the best. This target is five shots at 100 yards. I have alot more close to this but this is my best. 2013-08-26182230-1_zps566c999f.jpg
I am a die hard Savage fan after these rifles and I bought a 12LRP last year and it is really tight also.
The weak link on the Savage 22's is the feeding. I have found by trial and error that there are only two problems that are the root of these, and I can make your Savage feed smoothly with just a couple tweaks that I can tell you about and a set of 6-8" needlenose pliers. Its not as complicated as some make it and its not the magazines. I modified a couple 10 rd mags and left two as is and after I figured out the issue they all work great. 5 minutes at the most to fix it.
That being said, my father loves marlins and his is pretty accurate also!
You cant go wrong here at all no matter which you choose. I would put my Savage up against some high dollar, high pedigree guns though, and dont be fooled, it can win!

no one said accuracy didn't matter at all. but in the realm of cheap .22s, who cares about the difference between .2 and .4....again in cheap .22s.

i won't own a firearm that isn't reasonably accurate. but when people are asking general opinions regarding one platform versus the other, long winded rants about three shot groups at 90 yards and what some champion shooter told you seem a bit over the top.

most guys buy .22s for fun. every thread about .22s that turns into a pi$$ing match take the fun out of it.

I do. And who are you to decide what others think and your views on my posts and what I choose to say are just more static. Lots of people care about cutting accuracy in half BTW and that's what you described. It's the difference in hitting that squirrel at 50 yards and not hitting them. Your short cheap shots will do nothing but get this thread closed. Your views of me are off topic. My comments were about guns. Yours are about me. Bye.

ceezee, please, give it a rest. i wasn't taking any cheap shots. my comments were about guns too.

my point is that i don't see the need to bicker about the utmost accuracy when we're discussing budget .22s.
