I recently sold a Glock 30 and was about to pick up the Glock S, But realized that it would indeed be a shame if they came out with a Gen4 "S" or a Gen 5. The #) has a Gen4, But it's not the "s". Anyone shed some light on this?
And is $580 a decent price for a new one?

Well, 5 comes after 4....so I'd assume at some point there will be a fifth generation for Glock. I'd think they'd almost have to do something to try to keep interest up on their products.

I had a 30SF for a long time and have tried the 30S a few times. Could tell there was little more felt recoil, but I was impressed with the differences between the two.

I think $580 is a fairly average price, our local Cabelas has them for $599. They were hard to find for a while, not sure if demand has quieted down but my only complaint was the Gen 3 grips. a Gen 4 version would be good.

I can't see what more can be significantly improved without fundamental design change.

Ceramic, undetectable and you can't afford on your salary.

Glock generation 05s?....

I'm almost certain there will be a Glock gen 05 but not for 4/5 years(2018/2020  ).
I'm not sure what "improvements" can be made to the Glocks.
A thinner slide maybe? A better, wider factory take-down lever for use with gloves? ;)
My Glock 21 gen 04 .45acp(factory reconditioned) looks impressive. I plan to shoot some 230gr FMJs next week so I'll tell you more later.
Glocks have only 34 parts so not a lot can be modified or changed.

Don't worry the slimmed, melted edge line is coming starting with single stack 9x19 of course.

...with the new California model single shot mag, and reflective sights.

What model is the same after 20 years as it was the day it was first produced of any firearm? Interest fades when there is nothing new to talk about. This country idolizes buying success rather than becoming successful with what you have. Glock will face lift the brand when they feel sales have stagnated just like with the gen 4. Add little things and get back in the media.

Gen 4's only been out for a few years... They generally have close to a decade between Gens.

It depends on what happens when Gaston Glock dies. He's almost 85 so it's unlikely he'll live to see another product generation, and it's unclear what will happen to the company when he goes, but the new owners will determine the future of the Glock product line.

I hope so. I want to be a glock owner but I can't do it. To grip the gun the joint in my thumb is jammed very unpleasantly into the booth eel where the slide extends beyond the grip and creates a crotch of sorts. Because of this I can't comfortably shoot ANY glock. 17,21,30,42,27,26,etc. they all have the same fundamental flaw, designed specifically for average sized hands with no thought to let big or little hands work with the top end of the grip.

Glocks; after-market.....

I don't think any other handgun in the US market other than the 1911/1911a1 format has more custom features or after market add-ons than the Glocks.

I've seen a few race-guns & a few that had a small amount of tweeks(night sights, grip cover, different mag base pads).

With the success of the compact Glock 42 .380acp, Id bet the next new Glock will be a Shield type sub-compact .40S&W, 9x19mm. A 6/7/8 shot like a Glock 36 .45acp.

A security co-worker of mine just picked up a new Glock 30S .45acp to use on armed details. He's very pleased with it so far. :)

According it says the urban myth Glock already did it years ago... The concept it disappear after a general mandatory recall. :scrutiny:

I have had a Glock 30 for 20 years, which I just sold to move to the "S" model. It's really not that big a difference unless you have carried a 30 for some time, and most folks can't tell the difference.
I would hate to buy a new S, and a month later they change it to a gen 4 or gen 5 "s". Although there is a Gen 4 "30" there is no "Gen 4 30S".
It's like seeing the billboard on the way home from the store showing the new xds 4.1 and you just bought the 4.0.
