IMR 8208 XBR and 168 BTHP's in the 308

I've never used it but here's directly from the IMR website.

I had 2lbs of it but sold it off because I had 24lbs of CFE223 comin my way. From what a few local guys have told me its an excellent powder for .223 and .308. It's supposed to be pretty much insensitive to temperature change and if I remember right it was cut smaller than Varget which I love in .223.

I find it strange that the data jwrowland posted is so similar for the Sierra HPBT and the Barnes TTSX. Just about all the data I've seen for brass solids (TTSX) has been much different than data for same weight jacketed bullets.

I've used it with 168 Amax in 308. works fine in my LR308, but is a little pricy. Check Hodgdon's web site for loads. Not familiar with the Ruger, you will have to work up an accurate load.

I know this doesn't help you but I've used it in my 270W with very good results.

KansasSasQuash I wish I had been on the receiving end when you sold your 8208 I can't find it around here. Seems that primers are starting to show up but powder isn't here yet.

My Hornaday #9 says 33.2 to 43.2
My Lee manual has the Hogdon Data 39 to 43.3
Both 2.800 COAL both for 8208xbr Fed 210 primer in #9

I just picked some up for my 308 I am thinking of using it for my 168 target loads what do you think guys??? "Yes I know every rifle is different but why reinvent the wheel every time you start something"

Yes, great for 223 and 308.

It's all I use in my AR's.
