Does anyone sell lighter slide spring for the P32?

I bought 300 rounds of Federal American, and it feels very weak. I have to manually eject every round. Seems like Federal underloaded this batch of ammo. Can I get a lighter recoil spring so I can shoot these ammo? The seller will not take the ammo back.

Fiocchi and PMC works fine in my P32.

I don't know of any.

All I can suggest is get another standard spring from K-T and clip a coil or two off of it until you get it to function.

Then don't shoot it with normal power ammo with the shorter spring in it.

You could also call Federal and see is there is any known issue with that ammo lot number.
They might replace it.

Looks like there are two recoil springs. One inside the other. Which one should I cut ?

I don't know.

I'd probably cut them both the same to keep the coil geometry the same so they slide over each other smoothly.

Start with one coil off both and see if that works.
If not, clip another coil.

I would get rid of the ammo before I started messing around with the springs.

The pistol was designed to work with the spring it came with and changing the spring could cause all kinds of other problems, like what happens if round with correct pressure comes up when your using a weaker spring?

I'm with Kokapelli on this. Clipping springs is rarely a good idea. If you must, get a spare before you clip. That said, if you already have ammo with a quality control issue I'd be worried about a fully charged round finding its way into the breach.

yeah i wouldn't play with the springs either, if it functions fine with all other brands? i'd call federal and ask for them to take back their ammo that doesn't function in your pistol, while other ammo does. i had to do this with my p32 and wwb ammo. it was locking up the gun every shot. was too short and the rims would jump around in the mag and lock up behind the next rounds rim and lock up the pistol something fierce. plus in that batch of .32 ammo it was spitting out powder something fierce and covering my hands in it. olin agreed their ammo was the issue and sent me a gift certificate for the same amount i spent, to be used on more winchester ammo. so i bought .22lr with it instead.

all that said my p32 eats everything, including federal, but not the too short wwb. unless olin has changed the design and length in the last 5 or so years since then? i'm not gonna try it though.

Well, before you clip springs, get a new pair on the way for using after the experiment.

I've clipped recoil springs trying to get weak ammo go run in another gun which was not a KelTec. It seemed to run a bit better, but I ended up going back to better ammo with the original length springs in it.

I would not touch the springs. I would call Federal with the lot numbers of the ammo that failed and see if they will replace it. I would also call k/t and explain the problem and see if they will send you another spring set as maybe your gun had an out of spec spring (stranger things have happened).

I would think if it were the springs he would be having trouble with other ammo as well.

Was that the flat-nose jacketed stuff? You can use that if you get Kel-Tecs mag adapater for shorter rounds. OTOH, if it had powder problems too, I can see why you'd stay away from it.

^yep.

At the time I didn't have the mag adapter for hollow point ammo. I do now. Yeah the powder problem was one of the weirdest thing ive seen in ammo issues. I doubt anyone would run into that issue again. Olin made more than good though.

You will not be able to use standard round nose FMJ ammo with the spacer installed.
Right. You need a separate magazine or two just for the shorter stuff.

Second to last paragraph of the second instruction link-

You’re done! The wire will now prevent the shorter hollowpoints from pushing backwards in the mag, eliminating rimlock. To use ball ammo, simply slide the mag base partlly off, pull out the FlyerWire, then close the base again.

This won’t harm your magazine in the slightest, even if you choose not to use the wire

I agree with RC. Spring cost is minimal. Kel-Tec might even send you a set free. Not much to lose if it doesn't work.

Ammo retailers do not take ammo back. Period.
You MUST contact the Ammo Manufacturer yourself.
Have the box next to you when you do, you will need the Lot #
and other info on the box. If multiple boxes, have them all beside you.
They will then tell you how to proceed from there.
Remember to be nice, but firm...and have paper and a pen beside you.
Usually they'll send you replacement box/s, or send you a gift certificate
for your local dealer worth whatever you bought.
Having your receipt is very helpful :)

Now, just as an aside, most .32acp is a bit light,
what you might want to look for is stuff marked
7.65 Browning/.32acp, or just 7.65 Browning.
Its loaded a wee bit hotter for those European pistols...
like the Erma KGP68A Luger ;)

If you cut the springs, go ahead and order a new set,
you will need them if you shoot any other ammo.

I would first call the ammo company about it . If they will not swap it for you , I would take the advice of rc and call KelTec for another spring set before clipping the 2 springs.

You can shoot the Flat nose Winchester with factory rimlock kit Its the same OAL as most HP I been doing it a long time I don't know about the home made one. .

If I remember right factory recoil spring is 11lbs Wolf has springs They send out side spring I have 13 lb in my P-32 and 15lb in my 380. I shoot Corbon 99% of time. But those spring have worked with ball ammo

I'd leave the P32 alone and toss the junk ammo. Obviously there is an issue with the loadings there, which could mean that some of the rounds are double loaded or all of them are underloaded. There's no way to know for sure and it isn't worth shooting it through your gun and potentially damaging it to save $40 in ammo.
