Today's Turkey

I harvested two a few weeks ago. Will be eating it for another meal though as we are going to a relative's house for dinner.

I saved my long beard from last spring for today. Bird weighed almost 17 lbs going into the oven.

Sure tastes better than the store bought ones.

The carcass will go to make a pot of turkey vegetable soup

I tried. He was a tough one. No dice. Sent me packing.

Looks like it is going to be a smaller pot of soup than I planned on.

It seem that the bosses part of the family have learned that wild is better. There is not much wild turkey leftovers, while plenty of the tame stuff. That old bird came out nice and tender so they gobbled it up. Pun intended!

i missed one the first day and broke up a flock on the second day,but i could not call any back as there was a very high wind. i hunted just about every day and no turkeys,tomorrow is the last day and i will go out looking again. eastbank.
