Having been a long time revolver guy, I have always been a little lacking of trust in automatics. For the last couple of years I have been carrying 2 revolvers due to the increases of gang activity making me think 6 shots might not be enough.

About 2 months ago I borrowed an automatic, and I actually shot it better than my revolver, I think mostly due to the better sights. Then I got to thinking, I'm already carrying 2 guns, so why not carry automatics instead. If I was to get a double feed, just grab the second gun.

Sooo, get ready, gasp, I bought a Glock 19 and a Glock 26. Now I have 27 shots instead of 11 in my guns. I have been shooting these guns for about a month now and am actually shooting better with these than I could with my revolvers. I tried a Glock when they first came out and hated it. Now, I wonder why. Granted, it has the visual appeal and pride of ownership of a cheese grater. But, like a quality cheese grater, it is a damn fine tool for the intended purpose.

I guess getting set in your ways isn't all that good of a thing. Wonder whats next, will I be trading my Rossi 92 for an ar-15?

Good choice, welcome to the modern century. Now get rid of those junky, clunky, no-good wheelguns.

let me know if they're for sale :D

Glad you found something that works for you. I started out on revolvers. It took me quite a while before I was willing to trust an automatic. Now that I found one that works, I'm pretty happy. I still open carry revolvers quite a bit though, especially when hiking.

Good on you for trying something new. And just because you switched to the autos does not mean you can't still love your wheelguns.

I imagine the same can apply to C&R guns. Great to own and shoot, but not necessarily to carry (some particulars aside).

As you can tell, I'm an XD guy. However, I must say the Glock 19 & 26 are two daggone fine pistols. I would trust my life with either. And the best part,... The more you shoot them, the better they get.

Or you can do what I think GIGN did:

357 Magnum revolver as primary. Self-loader as backup.

I like my wheelguns, too, and sometimes carry one.

But, yeah, sounds like you're headed into the present. Actually, autos have been common among civilian carriers for quite some time, so you're really coming into probably the 1980s. :D

I started out strictly a wheelgun man while my brother was exclusively into semi-autos. In time I became fascinated with the mechanical marvels and switched over to semi-autos too, much to the detriment of my revolver collection. Eventually I found a middle ground where all handguns, no matter what their design, configuration, or how many rounds they hold, are welcome in my home.

How progressive. Lol. But I want to see your reaction when your treasured wheel gun brings home a Jennings.

You might have shot better because semi-auto triggers are often a fair bit lighter than those of double action revolvers. At least that was my experience.

You've made a good choice as far as which pistol to carry (two good choices, actually). And I think Glocks are pretty darn good-looking myself.

If I could only keep one pistol, it would be my G26. Why am I more accurate with it versus my G17? I have no idea.

Think you have your centuries mixed up. Semi Auto pistols were mass produced in the 19th, Plastic fantastics, including glock were invented in the 20th.

Going on 45 years that this """"NEW"""" technology has been around.... ;)

I started with semi autos and now am looking at revolvers..

something visceral about the feel of revolvers.

I pretty much ignored revolvers for decades. I didn't hate 'em, I just thought they were kinda antiquated and they didn't really appeal to me.
But a few years ago, I bought a GP100 with the money I scored from selling a Romanian AK during The Great Panic of '08, and I was bitten by the revolver bug, picking up a few more over the years, and eventually even started EDC-ing a S&W Airweight.
But just recently,(though I have other semi-autos that are great) I got an older 3rd gen S&W compact ( 6906) with decocker/safety, to be my new EDC pistol.
It's a great little gun, and sometimes it's absolutely ideal, but more and more lately, I've been feeling a little under-gunned carrying only a humble little 5-shot DAO .38 with 2" barrel. :uhoh:
