The 260 super lr, sounds like an interesting concept. A 260rem with the shoulder bumped back for a longer neck and a 30 degree shoulder. Any thoughts on or experience with this cartridge? Supposedly helps a little with seating longer bullets and preventing throat wear bc of the longer neck, and also has the more efficient 30 degree shoulder. Another bonus...no fire forming! Thoughts?

You mean the 6.5 SLR? I've got my rifle at the gunsmith currently being chambered for it. So far, forming brass is easy. Using winchester .243 brass I just run it through the sizing die. Some cases come out with a donut in the neck and will need to have the necks turned, but most don't. 308 brass resizes well (with less force required), it just needs to be trimmed a couple thousandths of an inch to be in spec.

The downside: dies are downside. But if you are wanting a precision rifle then that should be expected. I am using Whidden dies and they are great.

I will let you know how it shoots here in 2 weeks when I get the gun back.

NastyNate: The longer neck in theory throws the flame further down the barrel rather than burning the throat. And I prefer the SLR to the 260AI because I don't have to fireform brass.
