Where they tell me to go
They have been my go to for years. However, the ads and worse, the blaring videos which pop up now when I go to look for something there are simply unbearable for me.

So, would really like suggestions for other similar sites which don't have screaming videos on them.

Thanks in advance.

turn flash plugins/volume off. I dont see/hear anything. In texas we have texas gun trader. There is also armslist. Neither of those are auctions.

Gunbroker and Armslist are the two I've been on the most in the last few years.

Gunsamerica changed their site but still not a fan.
Gunlistings.org seems to have suspect ads.
Gunauction.com (formerly auctionarms) has much fewer guns than GB but seem legit.
Found Invaluable.com a few months back. They list some true gun auctions from time to time and I've missed out on some good deals.

Install Adblock and Ghostery (both of which are free) and you won't see ads. I'm running both with Chrome and am not seeing anything particularly obnoxious on GB. In fact, I just sold a rifle there and a couple weeks ago bought a handgun from the site.

Beyond that, I used to use GunAuction (formerly AuctionArms), but don't anymore. In the last year, or so, the quality of the buyers, or should I say tire-kickers, has declined to the point of silliness. And the amount of guns listed for sale are a fraction of what you'll find on GB. There are some tech glitches too and their forum simply no longer exists.

Good luck.

Auction Arms (gunauction.com) is regarded very well by the NRA and is the "Official Auction Website of the NRA".

Look at their rules and ratings of sellers, etc. and they are straight forward.

yep, it's annoying. You might want to just manually turn down the volumn on your computer so that while an ad is running, you can't hear it. This is what I do...

What exactly are you looking for?

Different auction houses specialize in different kinds of guns (or whatever).

Try www.proxibid.com that offers a wide list of auctions selling everything under the sun, but in this case has specific listings for Firearms & Military Artifacts.

Do be aware that most of these auctions require you pay the house a fee between 15 to 20 percent of your bid, in addition to it, if you win. But they usually have excellent photographs and accurate descriptions of each item or lot; And you are dealing with the auction house, not individual sellers.

Anyway, read the fine print before you bid so that you have a clear understanding about fees, shipping costs and arrangements, and FFL requirements.

An Old Fuff hint: In California only FFL dealers can bid on modern handguns. Since dealers are usually buying for resale they tend to be low. While an out-of-state bidder may have to pay the house fee, sometimes it's worth it.

Ads and videos on GB? Really?

I've been on GB since 2005 and I haven't seen anything you are referring to, ever. So I'm not sure what is going on.

And I've even bought/sold a few things recently (waiting on my last purchase right now) and still haven't seen any of the things you are referring to. I'm using basic Firefox without any ad blockers.

Install or Enable your Pop-up Blocker.

I had my computer nerd set up my PCs. He customized, installed and turned on a pop-up blocker. I have never had a pop-up on any of my PCs.

This. And Stop Autoplay 1.2.1 to prevent all the little videos from auto starting. I also like BetterPrivacy 1.68 to deal with Flash Player cookies and Disconnect 3.15.3 to help stop tracking. I'm using Firefox; don't know about other browser's add-ons.
