I took my son shooting yesterday and had fun but in the end my suppressor would not come off the barrel of my 911. The range guys couldn't get it off but the suppressor unscrewed from the piston. It is flat out stuck. I emailed Silencerco and they said use a cleaning rod through the holes and torque it. No go, the rod broke, twice. Any ideas? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1424527326.013929.jpg

Soak in ATF for a while. Overnight would be best.

Use a Propane Torch to heat it up. Don't be shy about the heat. Heat 'er up like you mean it. The hotter the better. You're not going to hurt a thing with a propane torch.

Apply torque to loosen it.

Cleaning rods are rather weak. You might try something stronger. It sounds to me like the thread fitting wasn't tight enough and carbon fouling got in the threads and bound it up solid. As Willie said, soak it in solvent for a good while. Next time before you shoot it, use something to seal the threads like teflon or purple Loctite (I strongly suggest the latter). That will prevent this from happening again.

If the torch does not work, soak it in Wd-40 or ClP overnight. It will come apart. I gotta ask, how many rounds did you put thru it when it got stuck?

We only put 50 rounds through that gun.

For that few rounds the problem is usually with them shooting loose.

Hope you weren't shooting lead bullets.

I'd look to make sure the barrel threads aren't too long -- if they protrude through the threaded part of the piston, carbon that builds up on the exposed thread portion will lock things up but good!. If the threads are cut a bit short you may have trouble getting the piston onto a different barrel with longer threads.

Been there done that. Butter knife with torque applied on both sides to avoid snapping.
Cleaning rods are soft aluminum.

I had the same issue when my 9mm can was newer. I broke a strap wrench trying to get it off.

I soaked it with WD40 and CLP and even tried liquid wrench to no avail. Finally I took it out, shot about 1 or 2 full mags through it quickly, used an oven mitt and it came off real easily!

Metal expands when hot correct? So it won't be as tight when hot VS when its cooled off?

From that day on out I keep an oven mitt in my range bag and make sure to AT LEAST loosen it before I pack up for the day just after I have shot the last mag through it.

good luck!
