Long have I wanted a version of a snub nose .44 magnum from smith and Wesson. Most prolific to me was the 629-5 Trail Boss. A friend of mine wanted to trade me for one of my ruger single actions. I jumped at the chance. He had told me this gun has seen less than a box of ammo and after inspection it appears he was correct, the gun also has factory magna porting. Without further ado here she is my new life partner ( wife may not like that term) but nevertheless here she is.

Very cool revolver to add to your collection.

I would also like to pick up a snubby Model 29 -- mine is a 6 1/2" 629

I do have an Astra Terminator -- a 'clone' of a 5 screw S&W .44 mag with ~2.5" barrel and it's great fun to shoot.

Enjoy!

I see no Hillary hole.. and it's the enhanced version that takes pressure better (as if you want to fire a bunch of .44 magnums out of that little gun.)

Congrats! Great trade.

And for a Ruger SA???? What was it, some 3 screw collectors item?

Congrats! Man that thing is nice! You get the best of both worlds with that thing. 44 Special for HD, 44 Mag for hiking. Good Trade!

Then I certainly feel like nobody needs to break into your house tonight. That gun is beautiful, and porting does help a lot on 44 mags. I would love to shoot that thing but wouldn't even consider it if it were not ported.

Nice trade! Worked out great for both of you. Let us know how it does at the range.

I came close with this one....(Mountain Gun) I like the 4" bbl, not so much the built in lock.... but for a field gun I will try to make due...

That Lew Horton 29-3 3" was a special run in late '84-early '85. The often cited 5,000 units produced is incorrect [even the Standard Catalog of S&W got it wrong] as there were only 200 produced. Mighty scarce and bringing a huge premium these days.

Fantastic examples of S&W's attention to hand assembly and fitting; some of the finest blued guns produced during the last decades of the 20th Century.

Shooting one at dusk is quite entertaining...creates a fireball about the size of a basketball.

BTW, if you're still tempted to buy, those combat grips didn't ship on that particular revolver; they appear to be much later production laminates instead of the original exotic wood.

Great...something else on my "I want one list".

That is really cool. Congrats on your find.

I've got this one, but haven't shot it yet. Give us a range report when you can.
