Well I am going to be packing my lunch for the next two weeks but I think it will be worth it.

Spent my lunch money on a blued security six snub has a little wear and missing the front sight blade. But for $250 I couldn't pass it up blade and cross pin have been ordered and the grips are being refinished although the frame sticks out past the bottom of the grips. May put some snow tires on it for grips.

First Ruger I have bought in a while the used Smith's have just dried up and as a lefty I prefer the Ruger cylinder release.

Saw a stainless Security Six, 4 incher, at a Dallas pawn shop where I-30 and Beltline meet.

Missing front sight and rear sight blades. They wanted $599.

Yea I rolled my eyes and left.

They also had a blue S&W 19-4 with 2 1/2 inch bbl to. 700 bucks for that one!

Nice find! I would go the PB-n-J lunch option for to get that gun at that price. Haven't seen any Six series locally in quite some time.

Congrats, bigtubby!

My 2nd Security Six was a stainless steel 151- model with 2¾" barrel that I bought, NIB, in December 1975.

It was heavier/beefier that the blued 4" 150- model that I had purchased in '73, but it was a great pistol; accurate, reliable, well-built.

Oh man! $250 sounds like a great deal even with the issues, provided it passed the "revolver checkout" procedure.

LOVE my some Ruger Six series guns! I wish they'd bring back the security or service six!

Congrats on a good deal for a great gun! I have a couple myself including a stainless snubby.

Numrichs has almost everything for the Security Six at a reasonable price.

Give us some pics when she's all done.

I passed on a Service Six at a gun show this winter, I should NOT have done that.

And yes OP, it was much more expensive than your Six. These are just such phenomenal guns, it's hard to believe. People LOVE them.

Last Security Six I got was a blue 6" with some minor marring on the barrel. It's a tank but it needs bigger grips. I have 4" blued as well. I didn't pay more than $275 for either.

You can find them at gunshows being peddled by greybeards in the parking lot. Older guys who want something new and fancy, who haven't shot the old beast in quite some time. You just have to keep an eye out, and be willing to haggle, and pretend you don't know what they have and that you are looking for a cheap gun for your wife/fiancee (she played her role well in the last acquisition).

No I don't spend $25 on lunch daily wish I could though.

I get a $100 a week for lunch and whatever else I have my son still living at home pays the $100 a week as rent. So I got my $100 on Friday and took a $150 advance from him for the gun. So no lunch money for the next week and a half. Figured that was easier than taking a loan from the wife.

Good on you. Great gun, I got 2 and if I remember correctly the second one I had to work overtime 4 shifts, 2 for the gun, and the other two for bill paying, I was tired that week

That's a beauty you got there Skidder mine has a little more "character" which is fine it is going to replace my 64 no dash snub as my truck gun.

Right on bubba, I acquired a security six about 2 months ago, it is blue 2 3/4 in 357, I also was looking for a truck gun, now I just need a truck, ha ha, but it rides in my car just fine!

XXJumbojim, I see your frame is not fully covered by the grips mine is the same but maybe a little more frame hanging out is this normal? Or have the grips been sanded down so many times as to make them ill-fitting?

Timely thread- never knew a lot about the Ruger Security/Single Sixes but-
coincidentally yesterday my 85 yr old dad gave me a 1984 4" .357 "Police Security Six" he bought used years ago, but can't remember when or from whom.:D

Came with an interesting Mixon Leathercraft holster that has 6 cartridge loops on the belt loop. The holster has the initials RJL scratched into the back.
Does need some new grips as the rubber Pachmyers on it have hardened and don't fit real well. Any suggestions? I don't really care for grips with finger grooves.

I just image searched some more speed sixes, the ones with similar two piece grips seem to all have some space.

I got my first Security Six long time ago. Yep, it's on the right here.

Just like my S&W 66-1 on the left. Both have been with me for decades.

I turned my Security Six into a RB and added Secret Service stocks to match my 2 1/2 combat magnum.

I have a Security AND a Speed six. They are as addictive as the S&W J-frames!!!

Great deal, you should be able to pick up a sight from Numrich, just keep checking for it to be in stock.

Those guns are sure purty, Deaf. They look so much alike, yet they're so different.
Yes, and you can beat someone senseless with that Security Six once it's empty.

It definably is beefier than the Combat Magnum.

My 3 inch GP100 is even better as a sap than the Security Six.
