That's a beauty you got there Skidder mine has a little more "character" which is fine it is going to replace my 64 no dash snub as my truck gun.
Thanks bigtubby, congrats on your new find and show us some pics!

I was converted from the GP to the Security Six about 4 years ago. I still have one GP left after trading another for a Security Six. And I might trade off my last GP for another Security Six as well. I really have no use for my GP after purchasing my Security Sixes.

It's always my 4" Security Six that makes it out the door. The GP is a fine revolver, but once you experience the sleekness and awesome balance of the Security Six it's hard to go back.

Here is a side by side comparison...

Got it dropped off yesterday at Wild West Guns for the front sight install going to have to be fitted a little as it is a front sight for a fixed sighted GP100 already had it ordered when I saw the ones on ebay. They do all the small jobs on Friday so should have it back next Sat.

Nice find. I was too young and dumb to appreciate what great guns the six series Rugers were when they were in production, but hind sight is letting me see what gems I missed out on. I'm gonna have to look harder for a six to add to the herd, only problem being they seem to be as rare as hens teeth. I almost never one for sale, the folks that have them seem inclined to hang on to them.

Good luck & good shooting with your six!

I had a couple/three of those Ruger "Six" series back in the day. I didn't appreciate just how good they were. The last one, a 4", SS one, my ex claimed as her's when we split up. I tried to buy it from her, but she said "no way." That girl always did know good guns.

If you like rubber grips, it's hard to beat Pachmayr's "Gripper's." There was a set on that one my ex got. I figured back then a SS .357, in an Uncle Mikes Sidekick holster, with Pachmayr grips...wasn't much that was going to hurt that gun bumming around in the woods.

When they stopped making them, I lost interest in Rugers centerfire revolvers.
