I have an old 1950's Browning Superposed in 12ga. I was shooting it a year or so ago and all of a sudden it would not fire. My father took it to a local guy near Lexington, VA and he said something was broken that let me shoot the bottom barrel first, so I had to shoot top barrel then let gravity set the bottom barrel. He also said it he could not find a replacement part (this was all told to me by my father).

My question is does anyone know of a gunsmith in Virginia who works on Superposeds and could get replacement parts?

Rick at TTI in ashland might be able to.. he might not. Rick is one of the good ones though, and I cannot recommend him enough. He's just north of Richmond, near greentops old shop.

andrew, if a gunsmith is not able to find a replacement part, I can model and 3D print one if you are interested.

Honest, knowledgeable, and reliable: Doug Bates in Singers Glen, Va. Check out: http://www.handgunrepairshop.com . Don't let the name fool you, he services rifles and shotguns as well. I sent him several "basket cases" that required him to make obsolete parts and springs.

Thank you for the names and OneWound thank you for the offer. Once i figure out what the broken part is, i will figure out what has to be done.

It sounds like you don't want to send your gun off, but if I were you I would reconsider. 1950's Browning's are some of their best, and I would want the work done right the first time, instead of taking a chance on someone making the problem worse.

I can highly recommend Art's Gun Shop for Browning repairs.

If you go to the shotgunworld.com forum, Browning section, I believe you'll find many more testimonials to their work.
