geewhiz!

Sycamore administrators say Dart Wars is too disruptive.
Blue Ash police say it's too dangerous
Yeah! why are they not smoking pot, having sex and going to rock concerts, all the safe things we did in the 1970's?
A concerned neighbor driving by at 7:15 a.m. called police.
Probably a real busyboy

Why can't these kids go get drunk and pass STD's to each other like normal teens?

If the Taliban Jihad tried to invade their neighborhood this well regulated militia would make short work of them.

First I've heard of it. Sounds cool! Not fair that only the students get to have all the fun! We've been thinking about moving into the Sycamore School District from neighboring Symmes Twp. By the time my first grader would qualify . . .. Well let's hope things have progressed in the RIGHT direction by then.

Read between the lines... what are the police really nervous about? Someone getting hurt? Yea, right. Are the police anti-gun or anti-militia? Perhaps. But those aren’t the real reasons.

When it comes down to it, what they really want is for you to think like them. They want you to be a good robot, pay your taxes, “fit in†with society, and be fearful of authority figures (i.e. the police). Running around playing Rambo goes against this goal, in that it fosters individuality and self-reliance. Their Nerf dart game is a celebration of the sovereign, independent individual. This is what's most threatening to the powers-to-be.

More than anything else, liberals and fascists want your mind. Winston Smith found this out the hard way...

this has got to be a joke..right?when i saw the toys setting on the table,i nearly choked.they dont even LOOK like real guns...dangerous..how?are the kids charging en mass out into the streets?so is born the new"toy-gun buyback" program.they can trade in their colorful nerf dart guns for a new box of crayons and a posterboard...including a sticky lil star to stick on their shirt for voluntarily coming forward.those childen turning in 2 nerf dart guns will each also receive a package of snackin cakes.

This game had to end because it posed a threat to officer saftey.

yeah those nerf darts might put someones eye out :D. its true too. when i was a youngin (7 or 8ish) i got a nerf gun for my birthday. being the marksman that i was, i decided to tape little tacks on the end of the darts and shoot my birthday balloons down with them. all was going well until my mom walked in the room right as i fired my last dart. i hit her in the forehead but the dart wasnt moving fast enough nor the tack sharp enough to puncture her skin. it was awhile before i saw that thing again.

I consider myself to be very pro-law enforcement. However, this truly is pathetic. Can you image what the reaction would have been if Andrew Shaver had a magazine that would hold more than 10 nerf bullets?

Something just isn't right when police are confiscating Nerf guns and laying them out on tables just like the latest uncovered "arsenal".

"Dressed in camouflage, their skin smeared with dark paint, the young warriors lie in wait in bushes for hours before dawn to ambush an opponent leaving for school.

With an eye on a $1,600 prize for the last team standing, they track one another at work, baseball games, even church youth gatherings, looking for a "kill." "

Somebody's boyfriend is going to leave the house early one morning, step on one of these guys in the bushes and shoot him, cut him or beat the snot out of him. Or maybe it'll be some husband sneaking into his own house after a night on the town.

What would you think if you saw somebody hiding in the bushes in the dark with some kind of gun?

hey that looks like fun :D

that is a good point. hopefully the parents are aware of the game so they dont do something you described.

Riiight, John. Sure.

I played this game as a high school senior in 1996 in Virden, IL. We did set the ground rules that no one could be shot for one half hour before and after school (no parking-lot ambushes) and no one could be shot going to or leaving work (until you got out of your car, then you were fair game.)

In the history of the Virden game, oddly enough, there has never been a fatality. Somehow we have managed to make it through years of the game without anyone shooting or cutting a kid holding a neon-colored dart gun

We also didn't have the awesome cash prize. We just did it for the fun of it, and it was as much fun as anything else we did that year, which is saying something!

I progressed pretty far, but was eventually seduced and betrayed by feminine wiles. It was well worth it. :D

Not with proper target identification, they're not. If you're shooting at anything that moves in the bushes you're in the wrong. Sorry, this is fun and this is harmless. That is, unless one of the kids does something incredibly stupid... but people do incredibly stupid things while doing anything. No need to single out this game.

This is the most asinine thing I've read all month.

The very idea that any human capable of rational thought would want to crack down on kids playing with NERF guns is terribly idiotic.

Blue Ash is a suburb of Cincinnatti. Cincinnatti have been involved in a few questionable shootings where they shot unarmed suspects.

I'm not saying the police didn anything wrong in those cases. I simply don't know enough of the facts to make that judgement call. However, the police are very jumpy in the Cinci area.

I have a friend who lived in Cinci and had a permit for some gun he owns. He got pulled over for accidently driving 10 feet the wrong way down a wrong way street at UC. They ran his plates, and found out he owned a gun. Three cop cars showed up and they approached his car with guns drawn.

The police in that area need some serious counciling on how to handle situations and especially on how to deescalate situations rather than making situations worse.

Hello all. I have enjoyed reading this site for a while, but have yet to post. I thought that if the Ohio guys got out of sorts with the nerf stuff, just imagine what would happen to my 8 year old with the toy I made him.
