Some single action porn

Some nice guns here!

I have a couple single actions, but this is my favorite:

Super BlackHawk .44, Weigand Combat front sight, Bowen steel rear sight, Green Mountain base pin and latch, steel ejector rod housing, button style ejector rod, modified semi-Bisley grip, Wolff springs and an action job. The base pin had a small nub on the front, I machined off, to give me another 3/16" or so of ejector travel, to really kick the empties out. I fitted a lanyard stud to the base of the grip and soldered it in. Only my second time posting here, hope you guys like it! It had already been shortened by the time I bought i, I just modded it to suit myself. BTW can anyone identify the hammer? I think its off a Bisley? Not sure, it was on the gun when I bought it.

BobWright, it originally had the large, Dragoon style grip. Larger flare-out on the front strap and a similar flare on the rear strap. Its hard to see in the picture but I modified it to suit myself, eliminating the flares, bringing the straps down to a smoother taper. The grips are zebrawood althought I am not quite happy with the fit, I just have not gotten around to fitting new grips to it. Oh, and the finish, is bluing over parkerizing, with a blued cylinder.

The picture on the paper...John Wayne's custom ivory grips for a Colt Single Action revolver...the inspiration for the custom made (by me) grip on the Ruger Blackhawk .357 Magnum...only made the left side grip...right side still wears the factory rosewood grip.

Hard to find a single action that doesn't have an innate beauty to it, but I have never been able to cotton to the Bisley. To me it just don't look good, and it sure don't feel right in my hand!

Colt Bisley or the Ruger Bisley?

I agree about the Colt. Feels - wrong, and it's purty ugly. But the Ruger feels good.

This is one of my top five favorite handguns. The sights and trigger are excellent. The factory grips look good and fit me well. It is a 45colt/45acp convertible. It shoots the cheap and easy-to-find 45acp very well. It is probably my most accurate centerfire handgun, one of only a few that I am accurate with out to 25 yards.

This is a JP Sauer 44 magnum. They were made in West Germany and imported here in the... 60's and 70's, I think. I got it used for $299. Even with the poor photo you can see the worn areas on the finish. Someone shot a bazillion rounds through it. Maybe that is the reason the trigger is so extremely light. Its grip is smaller and narrower than my Ruger's. That is probably why shooting magnums is uncomfortable for me. But it is extremely accurate and comfortable with 44 specials. I have three other revolvers that are 44 special, and it outshoots them easily.

So, can anyone tell me why some SBHs have a wide spur hammer, such as my own, and others, such as BobWrights, have the narrow hammer? BTW, TennJed, love those brl grips. They look like they could be apple-wood but Idk?
