Found the small 1911 I've been looking for! This Armscor (Rick Island Arsenal) Phillipine made 3.5" barrel 7+1 .45 ACP was just what the doctor ordered.

I had purchased a used Galco leather RH IWB holster for a compact 1911 for $12... So I needed a gun to go with it. :)

Picked it up new for $470 at my LGS last night... Disassembled, cleaned and lubed it today and took it to the range for the first workout!

At 21' using 230 gr ball ammo from Steel Ridge ammo here in Iowa and some 200 gr Hornady XTP. I also had some Mexican Aguila 230 gr ball ammo.

initial impressions

- I shot about 150 rds and was impressed (almost) all the ammo cycled well
- 2 times out of the 20 or so mag fulls I had a problem with the last round (7th) chambering (not going into battery... Round stuck on feed ramp) I'm not going to worry because it is too early to tell if it was me, the gun or ammo
- all the brass ended up in front of the firing line... Thought that was a bit odd
- trigger was crisp and seemed like 5-6 lbs... A bit of take up (that's adjustable) but the reset was short... To my liking
- this is my first non-full size 1911 but I can say it was as easy to operate as my full size
- accuracy at 21' was not an issue... Could keep them all in a paper plate without hardly trying... I wasn't shooting slowly, I was just putting rounds through it for a workout... so I was happy with the results
- the sight are all black... No white dots
- the checkered rubber grips are my favorite... The feel reminds me of my compact CZ75D PCR
- the parkerized finish takes getting used to... A bit dull.. But it will come around after I wipe it with gun oil a few time

More to come as I shoot this more over the next few days

A new blaster is always a time for celebration. If you continue having last round problems, take several close-up pictures of the actual malfunction at the time it happens from varying angles and post them here. There are some very good 1911 doctors here who could probably diagnose the problem and suggest solutions.

FWIW, last round feeding problems such as you describe can often be traced to weak magazine springs. Replacing the stock mag springs with extra power Wolff springs may be the cure. If not then replacing the stock magazine catch with an EGW higher mag catch may solve the problem.

I have the same pistol and love it. I too had an issue with the last round either FTF or an occasional stove pipe. After slightly adjusting the extractor (was too tight) and going with Wilson Combat mags, problem solved.

by chance did you disassemble the mag and inspect for debris or rough edges on the follower?

BTW - pretty awesome to see a fellow Iowa gun enthusiast.

I usually dissemble mags and clean and check- but didn't... Will do so now. Iowa is a great place to own and shoot firearms... Where I live there are many LGS to shop and lots of ranges to chose from.

Welcome to you as new guy to this forum. There are lots of great people and good info in this cyber community.

Thank you for the insight... I have a Wilson combat mag and will try it too

2us8xvn.png that bit right there file it down tell you see a papers worth of air on top of it while the mag is inserted. Its like that on all act mags that nub is too tall but once taken care of they are one of the best mags around
