What is the most cherished gun in you collection

Nope. Can't do it. Can't pick one only. Its kinda like asking which one of my kids do I love more.
On the "which would you grab first if there was a fire in the house (after the kids were safely away with Mom)" it'd be the 1911 that hangs by the bedpost, the custom 16 ga flintlock fowler that stands in the corner, the Anschutz Biathlon .22 that I bought when I retired, my Colt Ar15, and the Rizzini 90L Double rifle.
These are the ones that come to mind first. Interestingly, no shotguns....and I love shotguns...own more of them than any other single type of firearm. Go figure.
I would grab my Trap gun if I could.
Pete

Like others I got a lot of weapons. Some expensive, some inexpensive. Cant pick one, have to pick 2.
my 70's era Ruger police service six issued to me when I first went on the job and was allowed to buy when I retired. And my 1911.

..me too. I have too many treasures to pick only one! And, if you were saying which one you would grab, going out the door, that also would depend on the situation.

If i was going to shoot flying clay pigeons, i'd take the O/U.
Repel zombie hordes? AR-15
Guard the neighborhood in a shtf setting? vepr 12ga or AR, w/ para 1911 14+1 sidearm.
shoot a varmint trying to kill chickens? 22 rifle or maybe 357 levergun, or AR.
Something to CC going into the city? One of several: LCR, sccy, glock 19, ATI 1911 fatboy.
ring steel plates? s&w 625
Hunt ducks? 12ga mag auto
Plinking at the range? Any & all of them!

But the OP did ask which is the most 'cherished', which changes the 'tool' selection criteria. I don't know if i can narrow that down, either. I like & use almost all of my firearms, like i do my tools. It is almost like asking which is my favorite drill bit. :)

For sentimental reasons, my Dad's old s&w k-22 masterpiece 6" 22lr revolver. I hunted squirrels with it as a kid, & i think he used it in some competitions post ww2. Its a 1948 model, & even though i don't shoot it much anymore, it would probably be at the top of the list of 'most cherished'.

I have a pretty steadfast rule about never selling my guns, and this is a pretty hard one for me. I've got a couple that are in the "you can have them over my dead body, and even then I'll try to stop you from beyond the grave" category.

Remington sportmaster: I can't remember the date it was made, but I want to say it was one of the late 50's early 60's guns. My uncles gave it to my dad as a present around the time I was born, and it's the first gun I ever shot.

S&W 642: not the first handgun I shot, but it's what my dad taught me to shoot with, and was my go to carry gun for a while.

Ruger SR9: first handgun I ever bought. I used that thing in all kinds of USPSA, 3 gun, falling plate, and even an IDPA match. I've taken it through just about every firearms class I've been through, and it's the first gun I started reloading for.

But, when push comes to shove, I think it's my Remington 870. Just looking at it, there's nothing really special about it, but it's really special to me. It's the first gun that I spent money on - I was 14 and wanted to get into skeet shooting, so my dad said if I came up with 50% of the cash, he'd pay the rest and buy the shotgun. First gun I took hunting (duck) and it's still useful today.

Thermactor, in the past i considered sending the Colt to Turnbull for a complete restoration but then thought better of it as i have enough pristine SAA in the safe and this one has a character of it's own. Redmonds is here in Wash and they have relined a 92 Win for me and did a great job....having the barrel relined would surely make the pistol shoot better as the chambers are still bright and shiny and it would keep it's same look...may consider that. I better take the old Colt out for a firing session soon. Also this thread will motivate me to get a factory letter on the S/N.

As far as sentimental value, probably the cheapest gun I own: an old NEF 20ga break action. It was my first gun - got it as a Christmas gift from my parents back when I was 8. Got my first deer (and ducks, squirrel, and racoon) with that gun. About the only thing I've hunted that I didn't get first with it is turkey.

only one i reallllllly care about is my first gun. a smith model something snub in .38s&w. it has sentimental value, and i still carry it sometimes. other than that it'd be the two guns i've received as gifts, a glock 30 and a smith 22a, the 22a is trash and the glock is great, but i don't believe in getting rid of gifts on principle, however worthless.

I don't imagine I have any cherished guns, but my 2 Seecamps are probably the pistols I'd least like to part with, mostly because they can be so hard to find.

most cherished

first gun i bought my mom had to buy for me a marlin 39a golden lever 22 and the gun my dad bought me from graduation browning auto 5

The first one that would come to mind for me would be the CZ75 pre-b model that i got from my father. He got it from my mother when he was stationed in Germany in the 80's as a Valentines day gift. I love the story of the gun and how it came into my family enough that i would never part with it aside from passing it down when the time comes.

After that would be my Savage 64, my first gun. I got it a wal-mart when i was 10. earned the money myself mowing lawns and shoveling snow. it is what i learned on and it was used to get a lot of my friends into shooting as well. I don't think i could ever part with that because of how hard i worked as a kid to get it.

Mine is an 1861 contract rifle built by Wm Muir and Co gifted to me by my Dad. It was given to him by a neighbor when he was 10. He is 94 now.
The rifle has all inspectors proof marks but appears unissued. I haven't fired it since I was a teen but am getting the urge.

I have quite a few that I consider cherished, but my 1st gun, Winchester M67-A Boys rifle, got it in '67. Will pass down to my son.Coogs.
