Artofgolf is posting about Berry's new Hybrid-Hollow-Points.

They have had them out in 40s & 45s. And the anticipation has been when will they come out with their 9mm hybrids. :)

I looked at Berry's site and didn't get any meaningful info on what these bullets are intended for, what they mean by hybrid, how they perform, intended purpose. LOL - All I saw was a pic of a LE officer crouched and shooting. Sorry Berry's I need more than a pic.

I'm asking for someone to enlighten the rest of us about the product, since Berry's hasn't.

Berry's plated bullet line-up didn't offer a perceived self-defense expanding hollow-point product in the past.
Most of their line would be considered to be non-expanding target-style bullets.
IMHO, they are intended to contain over-penetration by sufficiently expanding while retaining mass.
I'm sure others will chime-in with their observations & comments :scrutiny:

Thanks for sharing what you know. I'm also looking to find out if these are bonded or how the jacket is attached. "hybrid" leaves a bit of mystery, what they mean, what they intend. I hate when companies or people do that - vague - because my mind wants to guess and fill in missing blanks.

How they retain mass is my real question. By nature plated bullets are bonded. The whole thing invites questions and I think they (berry's) handled it poorly by not offering the science, yet posting pictures. Are we to read between the lines?

ArtofGolf - what's your purpose for wanting these bullets, if I may ask? Pm is fine.

The jacket is electroplated to the lead core just like Speer Gold-Dots.

That's about as 'bonded' as it gets!!

I get that, but nothing speaks to thickness of the jacket, velocity range.

It's as thick as Gold Dot.

Use Gold Dot reloading data.

According to all indications?
They will take as much velocity as you can safely drive them.

They are the poor mans Gold Dots!

Good to know. Thanks.

I've been looking for GD 357's for like four years. I'll give these Berry's a try in the water tank.

Have to try some when they are available.
Almost impossible to find Gold Dots or Golden Saber in 9mm.

Dude Dog - if you are totally out of 9 GD's, I have some in 124 weight I can share. Not looking to make money, just making sure we all have our gold dots.

Funny joke. My son (25) has a bunch of loaded GD's in a container. I swirl my hand in his gold dots like I'm going to take some or shoot them for target. "hey hey hey - out of my gold dots old man!!" lol And I'm only 47. They have become coveted in my circles.

Sorry if I took your thread off course. I was just scolded for hijacking in a PM by Hondo60.

C'mon, ArtP ~ you know that they gotta have some sizzle to sell the steak :) Just marketing; I'm hoping the hype is proved in the performance of this pill. We'll see .....:scrutiny:

And it probably won't be the last time ....:what:

:D:D:D

You should see my inbox, warnings galore..well, not as bad as when I first came onboard..

The Dr says Im making great strides :)

Looks like they would be suitable for those of us froggy enough to carry reloads for self defense.
Or for the small commercial loader who could not get Big Name Brand hollowpoints for his "factory loads."

I will contact you in 2 or 3 weeks to get an order.
Thank you, Michael Fundaro - Berry’s Manufacturing
