Seattle Proposes New Tax On Guns & Ammo Sales

Who was that fat a$$ed senator or congress critter in 1993 or 94 that said" The 2nd. protects guns but we can put a 10,000 percent tax on ammo". When he said that I bought a life time supply of ammo and reloading stuff.

a nickel per bullet ammo tax. That would double 22 LR

Where are you finding .22LR for 5 cents? Will they ship to me?

A couple of weeks ago, I bought ten boxes of low-end Aguila for $5 a box at the Big5 in Seattle, which matched the same price I'd have paid online, so shipping costs vs. sales tax were pretty much a wash.

I doubt we'll ever see $0.04 .22LR again anywhere. But at an extra $2.50 a box, I won't be buying any on my way home from work either, if this survives court. Seattle's Big5 stores may become the only place in the country where boxes of .22 start to get dusty. :)

I should just order 10,000 rounds of Aguila blue/yellow box at $0.10 and be done with it.

Sadly, we will find out how fast this spreads because this looks like a done deal.
It's been spreading ever since Barry from Chicago couldn't get Congress to repeal the second amendment. After that failed to go through, the new plan going forward was to tax every gun, round, bullet, empty case, primer, pinch of powder, bullet mold, sliver of lead, and anything else that can be made into a gun or ammunition.

So far it's been suppressed on the state level, but now the local fascist's are figuring out how much they can get away with. LA just banned mags over 10 rounds and I'm sure going forward we're going to hear more about cities and towns banning "hi cap magazines" and passing local taxes on guns/ammo.

To whoever said a 5 cent/round tax was "Another reason to roll your own and buy components on line."

Do you really think these idiots will stay that way and won't figure out that they need to tax bullets, cases, and powder accordingly????:banghead:

A quick check on Gunbot shows the cheapest .22 is .09 a round. There isn't any .05 ammo around anywhere. Shipping is going to add another .01 or more to it if you buy <5000 rds.

.10/rd. is where it will settle. Pretty crazy when a person can load 38 spl or 9 mm for .14 and not worry about the supply. Some gun stores around me are still asking .15/rd. and people buy it.

The tax will be .02 cents for .22 ammo, .05 cents for all other ammo, and there will be a $25 tax added to the sale is of all firearms. The money generated will be used to fund antigun and gun control efforts.

The only way I see this working as suspected is for them to also make it a crime to buy ammo online as well as tax incoming gun transfers.

So basically gun owners in that state are going to fund antigun programs as well as pay for the legal fees the state will accrue defending this tax.

This was not imposed to gain tax revenue. Instead, it was because the clowns who run this city hate guns and gun owners. We have been invaded by interlopers from all over the World, and judging by their words, actions, and money from Bloomberg, and our own local billionaires, they would like to enact this as state wide legislation. Bloomberg wants this for the entire USA.

Ammo is a much easier target....

I strongly believe that the "Socialist/Liberals" (Democrats in a new
Trojan Horse..) see additional harsh firearms restrictions/laws as a very
difficult route. On that note, I also see them looking at laws against ammo
and weapon sales online as an easy "target of opportunity" (no pun intended)
This is not funny stuff at all..
If we do not stop this criminal/anti constitutional/anti America/anti American
values and morals group this election; it will be too late. They clearly see dis-
arming us as one of their main goals. That will make their other goals much
easier to enforce.
Complete wealth redistribution, weapon confiscation, ammo confiscation,
reparations that will cripple our populations true workers, wealth builders
and patriots alike. They hate us and have great distain for GOD, the nation
that we love and the values and morals that we so strongly believe in.
If you love America, join me in destroying their wishes next year. Hopefully
there will be much less illegal voting than before.
In Maryland the polling place was unhappy that I wanted to present my legal
ID before voting. Trust me- they do not see the same America that we do....
They one that they see, is an abomination.....

If they really wanted to curb gun violence, they would implement the Chris Rock bullet tax. "At $5,000 per bullet, everybody will know he did something to deserve it...they put $50,000 worth of bullets in him." But 5 cents, is just taxing your constituents. Fight it on principle. Find out what the money will be used for. Maybe it is worth it if it pays for gun safety programs, hunter education, and high school target shooting clubs. If it is for anti2a non profits or the general fund, that should be made public knowledge.

Oh dear sweet me. That Chris Rock routine is gold, pure gold.

Who was that fat old fart NY senator or congressman in 1993 that said "the second amendment protects guns, but we can put a 10,000 percent tax on ammunition"? When he said that I decided to stock up on as much ammo and reloading supplies as I could. Still doing that today.

I bought 975 rounds at .05 a round last week at Bi-Mart.
It's hard to find but it can be had.

Not $0.05 per round but this week I bought 975 rounds of Federal Auto Match for $0.06 per round at Dick's. They have a shelf full of Remington Golden bullet for $0.10 per round. Limit one box per day per customer.
