Back in the day, around 20 years ago, I carried a S&W 4506 on the job. Yes, it was heavy - because it is all stainless steel construction.
And it is bet your life reliable and shoots like a laser. And it was highly visible too. In the holster and out. Many a miscreant ceased his anti social...
I picked up one of these last year. Yes I was late to the party. An aquaintance was getting a divorce and dumping some guns to feed the divorce attorney. Most of what he was selling was striker fired plastic - which I have no use for - but I saw one plastic blue box and after examining the...
Having read through another thread on this board, I see that there are some young revolver afficianados present here. In that thread I became aware that certain things I was taught as a young LEO, pertaining to fighting and prevailing with a six shot revolver, are evidently lost to the dustbin...
I am an old revolver guy and am indeed biased in my choice of defensive handgun. Lately I have read threads on several boards with the "revolver vs semi auto pistol" theme. Must be something in the water recently. Several times in these threads I have read nonsense about...
I'm in need of a good gunsmith. the talented fellow I've used for years passed away.
I tried another, suggested by a shooting buddy.......but he did a poor trigger job on my 10-6 357.
So now I am in search of a talented revolver smith to undue this botched trigger work and probably replace...
I've never bothered with J-frame or other 5 shot revolvers. I never needed to. I had my 2.5" 66-2 and my Detective Special. They served all my needs well.
Well for various reasons, I was looking to retire those revolvers and in need of a little snubby for certain occasions.
I found a LNIB...
Check out the S&W website. They have a new revolver coming out they are calling a model 15.
Appears to be one of those "classics". Resembles my old 1972 Crossman pellet revolver......no....the Crossman is good a looking revolver.
$1043 MSRP. Can't say they aren't optimistic. EXTREMELY...
I recently picked up a second generation S&W semi auto. A model 645. This one was LNIB. Hard to tell it has been fired.
What a superb example of how S&W used to make guns. No tool marks and the slide to frame fit is perfect. Slide moves smooth as silk. Perfectly machined to fit the frame...
I attended the Winston-Salem gunshow this past weekend.
There was an older gentleman there selling his modest collection. He had one very unusual piece. An ornately engraved 3" S&W 66-2. While that in itself is hardly unusual, the hammer on this 3" 66-2 most definitely was.
In my...
I recently recieved my Melonite 4566. This has been a "holy grail" gun for me.
It is a beautiful pistol indeed. S&W really did this handgun right.
Novak night sights, and a very nice job coating the stainless in Melonite with a Rockwell hardness scale of 67. Impervious to scratches, and...
I noticed these "X Club" threads in the revolver section. I did not see any here, so....
I'm a proud owner of an early production S&W 3913. This is absolutely my favorite semi automatic pistol. Mine has the flash chromed hammer and trigger, and reduced profile slide stop.
Light weight...
Hi, if you actually own a Taurus model 66 revolver.....or a Taurus 357 revolver with a 4" barrel, please opine and advise. IF, however, you simply wish to tell me a story you heard from your brothers mother in laws cousin about how crappy Taurus is, please go start your own thread, thanks...
Has anyone purchased one of the used model 64's from J&G sales?
Are they pre lock? Do you get a choice? What kind of condition was yours in?
How does it shoot? Was J&G simple to deal with? Thanks so much for the info! TJ
I went with my GF to the courthouse yesterday in Rockingham County.
While there, I saw a Detective carrying a S&W 681 !! It had Hogue rubber grips, and was in an open top Safariland holster. I'm not positive, but I think he had a 2X2X2 pouch as well.
He did not appear too friendly so I...
I recently came into possession on a two tone Sig 229, chambered in 357sig with the DAK trigger.
I must say I wish I had obtained one of these years ago. Simply the finest handgun I have ever owned. I have Colts, HK, S&W, Browning, FN, and Berettas. None matches the fit and finish on this...
I just read on another gun board, a post by Mr. Michael Bane.
Seems he was shooting his S&W 329PD yesterday using 240 grain 44 magnums, when its internal lock engaged on it's own..... AGAIN!!!
Difference is, this time his TV crew caught the incident on film.
I'm sure that despite this...
I saw a photo of a 4" barrel, full lug, model 14. It was referred to as a "Roper" gun. I assume this means that the distributor was named Roper.
Anyone own one of these? Any pics?
I've run across an unusual model 19. it is a 19-7 with a round butt, and a matt black finish. The finish is identical to that on the 442 J-frame. It also has the new, angled, cylinder release.
The shop owner told me that it is a special run, from the mid nineties, for the diplomatic security...
I was perusing the latest Winchester ammunition brochure yesterday, and came across the Ranger 38+P+ load.
Winchester states in the brochure that the 38+P+ 110 grain bullet, gets 1155 FPS and 326 FT LBS at the muzzle of a 4" barrel.
Is this a replication of the old "Treasury Load"...
