Check the regs. In MI there's a limit to how big the shot can be.
I have hunted turkeys but other than the little bit of advice above I don't have much to offer. The birds always had my number.
Deer pass brainworm disease to moose. So they don't get along well on that level.
A moose transplant program in MI back in the 1920s or '30s failed partly due to brainworm.
You might shoot what you have a bit before deciding to make changes.
I have a similar Marlin rifle that I bought last year. Intend to put an XS Ghost Ring peep on it so it matches my other lever rifles but haven't done so yet. My son likes the scope with the see through mount so I might leave...
Grouse hunting consists of walking around in beautiful country with a light shotgun,
firing a shot every now and then.
If you have a hunting partner conversation is OK while walking too.
What's not to like?
I have made it my business to shoot as many FA weapons as I can.
First was a Thompson, followed by a Grease Gun and an MP5.
Then:
Other Thompsons.
Other MP5 including an MP5K
Another M3.
Several Reisings.
Uzi.
Full Auto Broomhandle Mauser.
Beretta 38/45
PPSH (two)
M16.
FND (improved...
If I had one I would have to try some hand-thrown clays with it.
Used to shoot them with a .44 Mag Contender and CCI Hotshot shells with nine shot, I think.
Lots of fun and we also hit a few.
I shot my first HP matches with an old 1917 Enfield. Also used the club's loaner M1 Garand a bit. I also had folks loan me scopes and mats. I assembled what I needed gradually.
Before I was done I had shot matches with the Enfield, my own Garand, an M1 Carbine,
an AR clone, and an M1A...
The last one my son and I shot had rifle targets from 150 to 375 yards.
He shot it with my M1A with National Match iron sights.
Did pretty well till he ran out of .308 ammo. I should have grabbed a can of Aussie .308 on the way to the match. Both of us missed a bit more than we planned to...
I have been thinking for a while that they could be "flushed" with remote control boats.
(They jump when a boat goes over them, apparently).
Then the shotgunner in the real boat...
I would like to associate myself with you folks.
A blued M57 was my first .41. Shot bowling pins with it at the old Second Chance Shoot.
Ran 210, 215 or 225 grain bullet with enough Unique to push them to 1,000 or 1,100 fps.
The pins left the table pronto in a shower of splinters. The same...
I've had one for several years. It's an interesting gun and cheap to shoot (used to be cheaper).
I'd buy another one if I could get one at a reasonable price.
I have several Smiths and two Ruger Redhawks in .41.
One of the Redhawks is stainless and one is blued. The blued one has a 5.5 inch barrel.
One of the Smiths is a 657 with an eight and three eighths inch barrel. It has a fine trigger and does not approve of missing.
The .41 has kept...
