Dude - I live in Maryland, and most of the people who work the gun counter...errr....aren't people who can give good advice on a first gun purchase. Most are hunters, who only know about the gun they hunt with. Maybe it's different in Louisiana, you're lucky if so!
Hey you guys and gals in SoCal,
Have a couple of female friends in the Ontario/Rancho area I'll be visiting in December. They want to look into getting a home defense weapon that they'll be comfortable shooting, and will practice with. they asked me to take them to a gun shop while I'm out...
444 - that doesn't sound low side to me, those tips were good money and right in the range of what i've heard for fishing trips (never been on a charter myself, know people who have gone).
Sounds like you haven't tried to buy your ammo in remote Alaska - see the post right above this one, the Alaskan bush is like going way back in time, a lot of the things that you buy without a second thought, have never been available there. And yes, you can get separated from your ammo in...
cjanak - if you ever venture to wild Alaska or Canada, you'll find that the Internet can't help you get ammo in time to save your hunt, if somehow you and your ammo are separated en route to remote Alaska (yes that happens, more than you want to know). If TSA happens to seize your ammo for (in...
Depends on quite a few factors - the overall cost of your hunt, does the service provide what they committed to provide, do they go above and beyond trying to ensure you enjoy your hunt, etc. Please understand that the tip should not be based on whether or not you get an animal, but rather what...
OK - your 45-70 will work for all the animals you list, you'd just need to get close enough to caribou - it's pretty darn hard to get within bow range of bou, but not hard to get within 150 yards or so, and the 45-70 can handle that just fine.
If you're SET on adding another rifle to the...
Lots of Alaskan moose die every year to the .270, and they're quite a bit bigger than the Colorado moose. Use a good bullet (Nosler Partition, Accubond, etc) in 160 grain, and keep shots within 150 yards or so, and she'll be fine.
Are You Serious?
Dude - I'm not gonna do your research for you, but if you look I'm sure you'll see that criminals tend to go back to neighborhoods and areas where they've successfully stolen before. And while you're at it, check on how many home invasions and burglaries result in injury or...
Dude, didn't even read the link, as a fellow hunter I'm shocked enough at the narrow perspective of your responses, that I'm gonna focus on them. Here we go:
Life note - if you spend all of your life trying to justify your actions to anyone who leans strongly to either side of an issue...
Evacuate Immediately
NG - READ what you just wrote to us. Forget about the lefal issue being discussed - you need to get OUT of this involvement, NOW. It's on;y going to get worse. "Milking it" to get more relationship experience isn't worth the risks and the aggravation.
In case I...
CT is Next
The patent holder (Russ Ford) of the ammo encoding technology is the one who has been travelling around trying to get this legislation passed. He admitted in an interview with Cam dwards that he "has no idea of the financial parameters", as was born out when the ammo reps...
Channel 4 News at 11...
Not that she understands the definitions - but DC Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (part of the Committee on Homeland Security) just said on the 11 o'clock news that "It shows us that terrorism can hit us from inside our country as well as outside."
Guess several...
Channel 4 Update
Channel 4 News in DC just had a blurb that mentioned that "letters and videotape" about the incident were mailed to Capitol Hill, the short video I saw showed people walking along that stretch, before any explosion. Guess more details to come on the 11 o'clock news...
Letters to the Editor
Somebody from CT needs to send a letter to the Editor of the Stamford paper, and squash this crap. Post #11 in this thread has info that can be summarized to point out the many fallacies in the proposed bill.
Get on them, guys. Don't let them think that this crap...
Post a Comment
I went to the Seattle Weekly website and posted a comment on Mr/ Ford's trip to Maryland, where his bill was unanimously voted out of Committee and he did not receive a warm welcome. I added a note about how he grossly underestimates the cost impacts as well.
Reach out to CT Shooters....
One ting you might want to do, if you're looking for help from other CT shooters on this Forum - start a new thread with Connecticut Shooters in the title, then link that thread to this one, not sure they'll see this thread and know it's ab out CT....
Sample Letter...
Here's sample text based on the letter I sent to the Maryland House Judicial Proceedings Committee, which CT residents can edit/revise and use if you wish for your own legislation:

Data Related to Ammo Encoding Legislation
OK Guys - here's some notes and thoughts from the hearings in Maryland, to help you inform the delegates in CT -

The ONLY person testifying in support of the bill in Maryland was Russ Ford, who co-owns the ammo encoding...
