I've run into another problem with a friend's shotgun. When pulling the operating handle back to chamber a shell from the mag tube the bolt just locks back. It does not release to chamber the shell.
The shell contacts the carrier latch, but does not push it back to release the bolt.
I've...
Looking for a mag tube cap assembly for a Remington 58 12 gauge.
Friend has an heirloom shotgun but the mag cap is missing the dial on the cap that adjusts for
H(igh) power or L(ow) power shells.
Gunparts corp and ebay have some 20 gauge cap assemblys, but no 12 gauge.
Anyone know a source?
Have an AR with an aftermarket hand guard. It doesn't have a place for a front sling swivel.
The PIC rail is only on top, not sides or bottom.
The barrel has a two hole lug on the bottom that may be a candidate for a swivel mount.
The holes are 7/16" center to center.
Anyone know of a...
I have a Mossberg 500 with blond wood. I want to stain it a French walnut color. Haven't done this years. I used to use homer fornby and that worked really well, but that is no more. I am looking for recommendations for stain.
Numrich shows a #4 sear as standard for a 3rd gen S&W.
Midway advertises a #5 and a#6 sear. What is the difference vs. a #4?
If I have a gun with a stiff single action trigger (DA is fine) would a different sear help or should I just work on the existing sear?
I have had experience with...
What handgun was the most innovative or had the most influence in the various post WWII decades?
1940's - Had to be the 1911A1 It helped win the war and there were so many of them.
1950's - The Colt Python. Arguably the best revolver ever for the 50 years or so of its production. Colt...
I was looking at some odds and ends ammo at a show and came upon some 10mm ammo with an E L D head stamp. The fellow was trying to tell me it was PMC, but I have only seen PMC ammo with PMC head stamps.
Opinions?
A local gun shop was out of Federal red box 357 158 grain ammo. They suggested Independence 357 made by Federal. If it is made by Federal, it should be good. Any one here have experience with this ammo?
Anyone have an accuracy load for the 10mm in a Colt?
I want to use 155 gr bullets at 1300 fps or better (just so it is faster than a common 357 158 grain at 1240 fps).
I am not concerned if the recommend bullet is HP or SP of FMJ.
I hear stories that 110 gr and 125 gr ammo will cause flame cutting in a Smith or Colt upper frame. Is this for real or is it a net rumor?
If real how many rounds does it take to do this?
A gentleman I know retired from hunting and wanted to sell some of his guns.
One rifle interested me, A Sako Finnwolf .308 lever action with a Weaver K4.
It looks similar to a Winchester 88, but a lot, lot nicer.
Anyone have experience with these?
Any suggestions on value on one in VVVG...
A coworker has a Winchester M1 Carbine.
He wants to know if there is a way to tell if the barrel is Winchester also.
He took off the hand guard and did not notice any markings.
The barrel is 4 groove. The serial is is in the 5,7xx,xxx range.

The camera man stayed right with it. I am not sure I would have if I only had a camera, not a rifle.
I just got into the office and one of my co-workers came in asking for a signoff on a document. When I dated it I said "It is Pearl Harbor day". He acted kind of surprised, it didn't register with him. We talked briefly and he said he wasn't sure what year that was. That was ancient history...
Yesterday, I was outside stringing Christmas lights when a Colorado Dept of Wildlife pickup parks in front of the house. The officer said she was looking for an injured buck that needed to be put down and asked to go in my back yard to see if she could spot the buck up in our scrub oak. I said...
I thought I would share some recent experience with genuine Colt magazines. I had some difficulty with the pictures, so apologies in advance.
I have a Colt Gold Cup that had a history of three point jams. After adjusting the extractor, which helped a lot, there were infrequent jams. At the...
