...of a 454 casull could stop a bear and as far as snakes go, I'd suggest you watch your step because you would have to have a shot shell chambered to deal with a snake but if it was a bear you came upon, that shot shell would just p*ss a bear off. Now I'm rambling.
Good luck on your selection...
1858, thanks for the photo, it validates what I assumed what the "situation" was in regards to my Kimber; one must never assume because doing so makes an ASS of U and ME ... LOL . Of course I'd never remove the firing pin safety though I don't think doing so breaks any laws as that firing pin...
I understand the price constraints but if he's going to take it hiking he should consider a caliber that can help defend him from bipeds and quadrupeds (re: lions, tigers, bears). I'd suggest the Ruger LCR in .357 but if he's set on an autoloader, like I've said before on this board, .45 acp is...
Not to sound dumb but how was it you had this pistol delivered UPS to your home and not go through a licensed gun dealer? Or are you a licensed dealer?
Bob
...with or what but since I can remove the extractor, then I'm a happy camper.
I'm going to make a further guess/assumption that if I were he** bent on removing the Kimber's firing pin plunger/spring, I might have to remove the rear sight to allow for the plunger assembly to be removed?
Bob
Ok, well, I purchased a "shim" and installed it on my Para Ord GI Expert, works just fine. I'm a happy camper now. I had to replace my "old" extractor (the pistol is less than six months old) because I had hammered on it enough that even though I was gentle (with the hammering) I don't think its...
I was able to remove the firing pin spring when I liberally hosed down the firing pin channel with spray CLP product I use, I depressed the firing pin plunger and the spring came out. I then used an AR-15 pipe cleaner I had on hand and with CLP, cleaned out the firing pin channel thoroughly...
I have a Kimber Ultra Raptor II, basically an Officer's/Compact .45acp.
I have had nothing but problems with this $1,300 pistol.
I use to own a Colt Officer's 1991a1, never ever had a problem with it other than it rusted easily (parkerized steel) due to excessive sweating in the hot Florida sun...
I put 250 rounds of Tula (Russian) ammo through it, Russian gunpowder does not burn clean like American gunpowder, so even though I did the typical field strip to clean the Para, I knew I should also clean the firing pin/spring and the extractor because the Tula powder left a lot of black...
Okay, I know I know, I set up a thread with a similar title but this is something I've never seen before. I have a new Para Ord GI Expert. I finally was able to remove the firing pin after the firing pin cover was removed with the help of a small hammer and a flathead screwdriver; the firing pin...
...spring that would not come out.
The fit of the firing pin cover and the spring is way too tight.
I'm not a gunsmith (but I play one on TV... j/k) so I'm going to take it to my local gunsmith and ask "***?" and see what he says.
Otherwise, it's reassembled, function checked 100%, good to go...
It was a typo, 4" barrel, aluminum alloy frame, stock pistol from Springfield. Thanks for the info, now all I need to do is figure out what barrel I prefer, usually determined by how fat my wallet is.
...core that acts like a steel core but won't penetrate steel or concrete, rather, the polymer core helps the round penetrate thick clothing that dumb*ss gang bangers wear 24/7. If that is of concern, then get the Hornady ammo.
Other than that, I cannot think of another handgun round that...
I have a relatively new Springfield Champion 45 acp.
It is the Commander sized 1911 with 5" RAMPED bull barrel.
I went to a gun range and was required to use THEIR ammo, my mistake, so I used it and somehow it damaged the barrel's feed ramp; looking at the ramp from the rear of the pistol, the...
Bob here...
Um "love taps", I certainly hope there was no ammo in it when you "love tapped" it with a rubber mallet. Slam-fire is a possible scenario you don't want to have happen. If I'm speakin out of turn, let me know.
Bob
Hmmmm... doh!
Um, I didn't think of that.
Oddly, I have a Springer Champion that has the same kind of firing pin safety but I've never actuated it (the firing pin safety), I'm guessing the Para Ord firing pin safety comes activated straight from the factory.
Great! Thanks for the answer!
Bob
