So, there are what appear to be dovetails to facilitate a scope mount on the rear sight platform of my Ithaca 37 Deerslayer.
I would like to mount my Red Dot to this location, which takes 30mm rings. The rings that came with the Red Dot are made to clamp to a much wider scope...
I have the opportunity to buy a Rem Model 11 for $150 from my friend's dad. I saw it and it looks like it's in good condition, what do you think o this deal?
Any words of advice? What to look for, etc?
Edit: I don't know anything about this model. I only know that the owner called it a...
You may have gotten Parade Magazine in your Sunday paper this week. If so (the one with Sarah Jessica Parker in the cover), flip to back page and you will find this:
I just read today an interesting tip that I thought was worth passing along. If you have a remote for your car, either a key fob or one of those fancy keys with the buttons built in, does it have a panic button?
An interesting strategy and tactic for this remote is to keep it on your...
They are blocking hotlinking, and I don't have time to save it and upload it here (maybe someone else will). But I thought you all would enjoy this cartoon.

Today at the school where my wife works, a 2nd grader was found to have a BB gun in his backpack.
The BB gun was confiscated and returned to the parents with some stern words. The child was sent home for the day and given one day of out-of-school suspension.
Pretty balanced video if you ask me. They gave a few seconds to a guy holding a sign that said "Here Lie Disarmed Victims", right at the beginning, then showed the sign in closeup later.
Make no mistake, the story was about the protest, but they did try to show both sides of the argument...
"karl L" wages daily war in the comments section of auburnpub.com, my local newspaper website. He is highly opinionated and a classic anti. He has been ranting and shouting-down people all day on guns because someone dared write in to the opinion section about how we need more Bernie Goetzes...
Earlier this morning, an article appeared on my local newspaper's web site: "Auburn Police say weapons were stolen from vehicles"
Article text is below, but basically it was about some guns stolen from cars in the city.
I posted a comment to the article saying:
"'Auburn Police say firearms...

Bought some WWB 9MM at my local Wally world yesterday. . .
"Hey, you shoulda been in here last week man, we had those on clearance for two-fifty a box."
"These right here?"
"Not the Winchester nines. . . um, the Braiser?"
"Blazer?"
"Yeah, that's it. Two-fifty a box. We weren't selling...
I would've been happier if they had clarified that the Turkey shoot is not actually shooting at turkeys, it's a shooting event where they raffle turkeys. . . meh. It was good article.

Turkey shoot was a golden opportunity
Hey all, I was just invited to a get-together in Phoenix that is happening a little over a month away. I have been dragging my feet on getting my Florida non-res for almost a year now, and still haven't sent the application in. :uhoh:
Anyway, I seem to remember FL takes a good 6 weeks...
A (female) friend of mine just asked me about getting a handgun to have in her home "just in case . . . you never know, you know?" An urbanite her whole life, she recently bought her first home and it is out in the country. She realized that in an emergency, the police are a long way off, and...
Just wondering how many of you knew of HR 2666: "[i]To provide for the implementation of a system of licensing for purchasers of certain firearms and for other purposes.[/i"

Sort of discussed on THR here, but it is in the activism forum, which...
Friend was visiting recently, and we had a little show-and-tell with our carry pieces. He carries with a full mag +1 in the chamber (Sig 226). He properly cleared the gun before handing it to me to look at, which left him with a loose round, a full mag, and an empty gun. He followed these...
. . . you realize that you just asked the poor dunkin donuts lady for the "50-round box of munchkins."
Not a joke, I actually did this on Saturday. :uhoh:
