I am looking for something to carry around on my hunting property for protection from bears, wolves, and cougars. I am not 21 so I can buy a pistol, so a rifle will have to do.
I am looking for something that could have the most possible purposes.
Hunting, self-defense, predator defense...
The heat shield would be purely aesthetic. I don't plan on going into combat, but if I have to I want to be prepared also lol. I doubt I will ever need to use it, I would just rather have it than not.
I am looking for a multi-purpose gun, home defense, SHTF, bear/wolf/cougar protection, and maybe some hunting and clay shooting (I will probably never use it for such though).
At my local Big 5, there is a Mossberg 500 and a Mossberg 590, both look almost identical except the tang vs...
Wow thats exactly the answer I was looking for. Thanks for your input.
I've determined though that I will in the distant future build AK's just for fun, but otherwise it I will just do Saiga conversions, or buy completed rifles.
Thanks everyone for your input.
I was hoping it would be cheaper, but I thought it would be a fun project at the same time.
In the future I will probably buy all of the necessary tools and kits to do it, and build several AK's, but its just too costly now for me.
I was just exploring my options. It was more of a...
Yeah I'm a very mechanically inclined person, like when I was a kid I was all about legos lol.
But yeah I pretty much just don't know a lot about shop stuff because I have never really had the time for it. The most I learned from my dad was about wood working stuff, we never really did much...
Or can you just put it in a vice and hammer it out or something? But make sure all of the dimensions are perfect?
I want to bend a receiver flat but I don't want to spend $150+ on a jig for it.
My dad has every tool imaginable, he probably has tools I could use to improvise.
Could I...
I am short on money, but want an AK, so I was considering buying a kit and putting it together.
I am not sure of the tools needed, but my dad has probably every tool imaginable, but they aren't gun assembling tools at all.
Assuming I have almost all of the tools needed, is it possible to...
I wanted to buy this kit Bulgarian 5.45 kit, but built it chambered for 7.62x39.

What would I have to buy differently other than the receiver and barrel?
Edit:
I forgot to mention that I am aware of the 922R compliance...
Do you just remove the rear trunnion or something? And put in a new one?
Also is it possible to put normal handguards on? Does it take Saiga handguards? Is it the same process to convert a saiga handguards? Thanks.
Are there serial numbers on these DIAS or lightning link? Otherwise how in the world would they know if yours is registered?
Have you EVER heard of a DIAS or lightning link breaking? If its a 1-in-a-million chance, I would never even worry about it, and these original question would be...
Are you SOL?
How likely is it to happen anyway?
Is it an easy fix? As long as the serial number is there?
I know full-auto guns are great investment (legally), but how good is an investment if it can break fairly easily?
I am thinking about someday buying an MP-5 with a...
Where did you get the gun show idea?
And no I was actually watching some show where they open a storage room at a big lot, (just a little one for chairs and stuff that you don't want in your house but still want to keep), and a bid group of people big on whatever is inside like an auction. And...
No not really.
Lets say I'm not planning on taking an MP5 sear or lower or whatever, and putting onto another MP5, and lets say its going onto a 16"+ rifle (HK33 or G3 or whatever), then we aren't talking SBR, we are talking purely full-auto...
I think you just confused me even more......
NFA full-auto guns are big money! An MP5 is around $20,000!
What happens if you die unexpectedly? Does the government just seize your guns? Or can they do a background check on your son/ daughter and give it to them?
I am looking at buying an A2 configuration completed upper (minus bolt carrier and charging handle) off of gunbroker, then take apart my current AR upper, with the end result of selling my 5.56 barrel somewhere (Only 500 rounds through it), buying a 6.8 SPC barrel (maybe a 7.62x39, not sure)...
I just watched the Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly debate on President Obama letting a rapper known for supporting a convicted cop-killer, into the white house for some poet thing.
Somehow the debate turned on guns, as Jon Stewart supported reinstating the assault weapons ban from the Clinton...
Thats the thing, you live in town. Whenever we go into town while we are hunting (into Republic, WA), we see about 50 deer, all within city limits or in someone's yard...NEVER in the woods where they should be.
I swear, the deer know when its hunting season...
In WA state modern firearm...
