    Springfield 50th Anniversary M1A

I bought a M1A a little over a year ago as a retirement gift to to myself. I truly love shooting it, working up reloads, and tinkering with it's accuracy. It's never going to win any bench rest matches but I have played with bolt actions long enough over the years to enjoy the challenges of the M1A.

Ask Dillon. They would know best.

Is speer still playing catch up.

My bad. I should have said 9mm Speer 124 GR Gold Dots are available. The only Speer bullets I use. I was speaking to the shortage of Speer bullets in general but only added to the confusion.

How often do you clean your gun?

If my cleaning time interferes with my reloading or shooting time priorities will be juggled. The cleaning time comes last. After decades it hasn't seemed to hurt anything.

How often do you clean your gun?

If after shooting it's going to be a couple of weeks or more before shooting again I will clean after each session. If I know I am going to be shooting the gun several times in the next week or so then it will get cleaned after that week or so. I wipe them down after each session and keep them wet.

    Springfield 50th Anniversary M1A

M1A’s are, rugged, accurate, and fun to shoot rifles. They are not finicky and fragile as egg shells. At least mine isn’t anyway.

First run on new flame annealer

I have a splitter on a 1# tank now which is a bit unhandy. Do have a spare 20# tank and could use the valve on that.

First run on new flame annealer

Had this a few weeks and have played with it a little using some scrap brass. Some Tempilaq came in the mail today, it was raining, so I tried a run of 120 pieces of 308 brass. I did a lot of reading and watching YouTube videos before setting this up and I'm glad I did. Took some time and...

    Fill sand for rear rest

Brownells was out of stock on the sand. Ordered some heavy sand and funnel from Creedmore per @Walkalong suggestion. Ordered an Edgewood MiniGator. 3-4 week wait for the MiniGator. Looking forward to getting the rest. Just glad the quality of my reloads have indicated I was having trouble with...

    Fill sand for rear rest

I am buying the Edgewood to replace a bag I bought decades ago because the old bag isn't tall enough. I'm pretty sure I filled this old bag with Zircon heavy sand and want to duplicate the fill.

    Fill sand for rear rest

I am considering purchasing an Edgewood rear rest and apparently these don't come filled. Should I use heavy sand like Chromite or Zircon? If so where can these sands be purchased. Is ther
