I just bought a M&P .45c with the thumb safety. So far, I like it quite well but not much shooting with it yet. IWB holster on order, but that might be a few months.
If you are going to concealed carry, I would suggest a good holster and appropriate belt. If you are going to pocket carry, then there are holsters for that, but you will need a smaller/lighter weapon for that.
It is airsoft, and you knew it was critters - what do you think? If it is serious and you think it is thugs, then stay inside, lock the door, arm yourself with something other than airsoft and call the police.

I carry a weapon daily, so I have no need to open up the gun safe to "fondle" any of my weapons. Sounds a bit like a fetish, if you are sitting around "playing" with your firearms.
A couple of years ago a bank in Norfolk, Nebraska was robbed by several men, they went in and immediately shot everyone in the bank. No witnesses. Perps were caught about 75 miles away by an alert deputy. No gunplay on the arrest, I guess they were only brave with unarmed folks in the bank...
Just my personal slant, but if I am carrying, I don't drink. I don't want anything there to be twisted around by an attorney, if God forbid, I was forced to use my weapon to defend myself. Others may have a different opinion, and I respect that.
