If the price is right, and the fact that you have shot it and liked it, I'd say go for it! If you are going to have one 1911, make it a Colt. I have let many 1911s pass thru my hands but my Colt will never leave!
Call the guys at LaRue, they are awesome! Not only do they make some of the best gear but they are also fantastic to deal with.
As for a co-witness, you DO NOT want a true co-witness but rather a bottom 1/3 of the optic co-witness. That allows you to see your red dot clearly and in the very...
The GP100 is larger than a K frame Smith and, it seems to me, slightly larger/heavier than a L frame Smith. I don't own a GP100 but have the older Police Service Six that Ruger no longer makes. It's a wonderful revolver and similar in size to the S&W K frame. If you are looking for a 3" carry...
S&W 65 Lady Smith 3" RB (if you can find one)
S&W 65 standard 3" RB
S&W 13 3" RB
S&W 681 PC 3" RB ($)
Ruger Speed Six 2.75"
All are good options. Of all my wheelguns, I prefer the 3" K frame S&Ws the best. Best of luck!
I went with a CZ 452 scout and a small EDC kit in a small ruck. I can't rave about the CZ 452 enough. I think some of the pink scout stocks are synthetic and may have a hollow buttstock that may work, just paint over the pink (unless you like it of course :-).
My other "survival" 22 is a S&W...
A lot of good suggestions here! I too think the CZ 527M carbine in 7.62X39 would make a great rifle for your little brother. It would serve very well for deer/hog and is a really sweet rifle. Light, accurate, cheap to shoot, beautiful, and just plain fun! I would aslo look at the Marlin...
Quentin is right on. I chopped my detachable carrying handle in order to make my own LMT-ish BUIS and then painted with black krylon paint. I run this setup on my work gun with a micro aimpoint on a LaRue mount. It's SOLID, cheap, and provides a bottom 1/3 co-witness with my RDS. Took 30...
Kraigwy: Awesome picture and quotes! I liked the picture soo much, I saved it. Thanks. What ammo did you use in Alaska while on the job?
I'm digging the 28!
Even with hard use, the P-01 will last forever! Don't sweat it! Look up the torture test that the P-01 went thru in order to get NATO/ Czech militray and police approval...awesome! I would still keep a steel framed CZ just because I love my CZs and never sell them. Shoot the hell out of your...
I much prefer the 50/200m zero also. The 300m zero has you shooting way high at 100m. The 50/200 zero will have you shooting a couple of inches high at 100, dead on a 200, and a couple of inches low at 300 making COM hits much easier. You don't have to use the directions in the links...
Don't do it! The AK, like the 1911, runs better when you don't add crap to it. The only additions worthwhile on an AK is the Ultimak rail and an aimpoint RDS. If you are having problems seeing the sights, carefully open up the rear sight and/or add a XS big-dot front sight. The Ak is a great...
Chop the detachable carrying handle like the LMT BUIS and paint with black Krylon spraypaint. Very simple and RUGGED!!! 45 minutes with a hacksaw, dremel tool, and a file. I like my BUIS fixed and bullet-proof! I get bottow 1/3 cowitness with my Aimpoint.
I own several SIGS and CZs. In fact, I carry a SIG for work but would rather carry my CZ P-01. The CZ triggers get better with use and end up better than the SIGs and my P-01 shoots much tighter groups than my 9mm SIGs. Both brands make quality pieces but my preference for a 9mm goes to CZ...
Every American man needs a Marlin 336 in 30-30, a Remington 870 12ga, a Marlin 22lr, and a bolt action 30.06 or .308. I'd later add a quality AR and AK just becaue I'm a free man!
