I would save up my money and invest in a quality optic (EOTech, Aimpoint, Trijicon, etc...). I have found that when it comes to optics you get what you pay for.
I would look into getting some Magpul MBUS or Troy BUIS to use while you save up for optics. This will allow you to shoot your...
mshootnit, no I bought the standard height Bassett mount, not the low one. Just looking at getting low rings for it and wanted to make sure their was not any compatibility problems.
I recently purchased an SA Loaded m1a and decided to mount a scope. I picked up the Bassett standard scope mount with a picatinny rail and am now in the process of purchasing rings for it. For the rings I have decided to go with the Burris Xtreme Tactical Picatinny Style Rail 1" Scope Rings in...
Seenterman and Old Shooter, posted while you guys were responding. I do have an option to leave it in a good friend and shooting buddys safe here in Austin, but I was just trying to see if there were other options. Seems to be looking like it's not a good idea and would take a lot of work to...
NavyLT, I guess I could disassemble the gun and leave my colapsable stock with a friend out here. The only problem I have is that my flash supressor is permanently attached and would be a pain to switch out to a muzzle break. I may look into the california mag release and see if that would...
I just graduated college and in a couple of weeks I'm moving back to NY from TX until I can find a job out west, which is hopefully sooner than later. While in TX I bought an AR that is not AWB compliant and therefore illegal in NY state. NY's AWB mirrors the old federal AWB, which was a ban...
I assume we will have the decision by 11am ET since that is where the SCOTUS is located, which means us in the central time zone should have the decision by 10am ;)
I've carried a full size 1911 IWB for about 2 years now and haven't had any problems. One of the most important things when considering IWB carry is using a quality belt. I can't stress it enough that the belt is of equal importance to the holster with IWB carry. It spreads the weight of the...
I remember seeing this a while ago somewhere and finally was able to find it again. Guy rigged up a pully system and then attached the rope to himself so that when he moved the targets would move. Pretty good idea as long as you don't mind shooting on the move ;)...
Everyday/Everywhere except when I'm on campus, which is uaully for a couple of hours every day. If it were legal I would carry on campus, but as it currently stands big brother knows whats best for me and I am disarmed while there.
Get some snap caps and practice dry firing. I used to flinch a lot when I first started shooting handguns, but was able to get rid of it by dry firing. Aim at a distinct object and slowly squeeze the trigger increasing pressure until it breaks. I found you will notice your flinch much more...
Ummmm...Maybe someone should say the same thing to the NYC legislature
Whether or not you like the rapper, he still has the same protection under the bill of rights that all of us do, including the right to bear arms AND the right to free speech (whatever he says in his rap). The...
Not sure you would want to do this to a new gun, but you could file down the front sight a little depending on how low the bullet is hitting. I would test a whole bunch of rounds to see if it's an ammo problem first though.
The best advice though would probably be to call Ruger before you do...
My letter to the PD is underway, I've just been burdened with a lot of school work as of late. I will let you all know if I get a response to the letter.
The apartment managers already posted flyers on everyones doors warning them of the break-ins in the area along with precautions to take in avoiding it.
drjoker, while I have no moral objections to shooting these theives, I do have financial restrictions that limit me from doing such. I am...
Unintended Consequences by John Ross - Must read for all firearms enthusiasts.
Enemies Foreign and Domestic Trilogy by Matthew Bracken - Great series with good gun play and politics
Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey
Civil Disobedience by Henry David Thoreau

Shooting someone with a paintball gun constitutes battery. Their was a couple of kids a few years ago who drove around shooting people with a paintball gun while video taping it. I believe they all got 2 or 3 years in prison. Not saying it wouldn't be fun, but probably wouldn't be a good idea...
Lee Lapin,
No worries, I just didn't think they were that big of a deal, but I respect your judgement. Thank you for trying to keep the discussion on topic.
