New oops at the loading bench

After cleaning and trying again I still had some very sticky cases. I changed lube and it went smooth from that point on. I ended up throwing the old can away and raided the kitchen cabinet for Pam like I normally use. I’ll tumble everything today to clean it up and hopefully load tonight.

To red dot or not to red dot...

I had an itch to do some competition type shooting a while back. Totally informal, and not competitively, just similar to how competitive matches have people shoot. So I put a dot on top of an old raggedy model 10-6 and it was really really nice. I never finished doing that one right, but I...

New oops at the loading bench

Cases are trying to stick. Even with lube. I’m going to break everything down and get it squeaky clean and start over.

New oops at the loading bench

No, right shell holder. Another #3 has it rolling again. I have so many old die sets though that there’s really no telling where this one was or what abuse it has had imparted on it over the years. It’s not cut like a Lee shell holder so maybe it’s one of my really old Lyman ones.

New oops at the loading bench

I have never had this happen. I don’t remember ever hearing of this happening. This was the 2nd case. First one did exactly as it should have. Yes the brass was lubed. Not it wasn’t hard to size. No real force on it when it blew out, just normal pressure. Just not my day to load I guess. 7.5x55...

all good things come to an end

Cheapo safe with a golden rod. Discussion over. Secure, dry, protected. Even the cheapo $200 “safe” at rural king would hold a LOT of handguns and then a goldenrod dehumidifier is cheap. Just make sure you have a place to plug in. Put it in a closet, basement, garage… still not thinking barn is...

    Let’s talk vintage reloading presses

Shotshell loaders just seem to be spendy in general. I have recently looked at a tooling kit for my Ponsness Warren duomatic and was hoping to buy the tooling for 16ga but A. It’s not available and B. If it was available just a box of tools would be $400 or more. I could probably make most of...

    Who forges with d2?

Kinda, as in is it useful to a knife maker. I have no use for it and want to send it somewhere that it would be useful and appreciated.

    Who forges with d2?

I have some d2 (written on billet in sharpie) that I found and I’m trying to figure out what to do with it. I was hoping to use it in my baby lathe but A. My machine can’t handle a piece this size, and B. I’m not skilled enough yet to work with a metal like this. Would this be useful to knife...

I don't want a Sig P365. Tell me why I'm wrong or offer options.

There are other options as good as a 365 but I doubt you find anything demonstratably better. My initial thought for racking ease is a beretta 92 type gun but then your giving up at least 30 years of technological advancement, getting a bigger, heavier pistol, and really not gaining anything for...

What is going on with guns

So far all i have heard is grumbling about if selling a privately owned gun makes you fit the bill of “in the business of selling”. I fully expect a universal background check law to take effect at some point, but I would hope that they do it above the table instead of sneakily changing...

Recap and Result - My MP-30 Build Disaster.

That would make me unbelievably perturbed if they took your story and photos of your gun, and published it without your knowledge let alone your consent. Especially if they embellished your happiness with the finished product.

    Unique Walker

Is that a 10/22 carbine folding sight on there? I admire function even at the expense of aesthetics, but there wasn’t much effort on this one.

What WON'T you carry and why?

I have several guns too impractical to carry. I have several too valuable (sentimental) to carry. I have some that just don’t get carried because I have better options. This question posed in the thread seems kinda strange, and I feel like it could be worded differently to get better response...

how did it start for you?

My grandfathers got me started, but that’s way over simplifying things. When each grandson was about 4 my dad’s dad brought home a nice but affordable rifle for the grandsons. The girls got cast iron toy stove sets. (This was the 80s so somewhat collectible but not necessarily exciting for...

What reloading components have you overbought?

.380 Ammo, dies, bullets… wife got a Glock 42 a long time back when she could still get blue label guns (EMS) and she started to go shooting with me. I tooled up and put together the test loads, shot those myself, then assembled the first 100 reloads that were not test loads. That box still...

Alright, what do you all think 1911 decision?

I had 2 Kimbers at about the same time. Custom 2 and I think they called the other a pro-carry or something similar. The full size gun was fine. The carry gun was problematic to a point I got frustrated and sold both just to be rid of the kimber curse. In all my escapades I don’t recall anybody...

The photos I was sent when the rifle was offered in trade… these are quality photos, no junk cell phone pics like I have.
